I thought the whole idea of bulking is that you gain both muscle mass and fat ? ...otherwise it would not be called bulking

i always try to add muscle without adding fat,by cutting carbs when i am not active(after 5pm for me) and 45 mins of low intensity cardio on an empty stomach 3-4 times per week, works well for me,after 5pm my meals are meat/veggies ex it 35 minutes time (9pm) i will have a 16oz sirloin with steamed carrots.

BTW, if someone could choose to bulk and gain pure muscle they would love it. But its a lot easier to gain a good deal of muscle when you bulk and gain some fat too. Believe me, if pro BBers could just gain muscle and not gain fat, they would defintley do so. Its just not very effiecent to get too worried about fat gains when you want to pack on serious muscle mass.My Training Journal...

This is strictly my take on gaining mass and bulk cycles. People are way to afraid of adding a little fat to their bodies during a bulking cycle. Concern yourself with ONE goal at a time. Adding muscle mass and dieting are two seperate goals. You want to worry about getting bigger muscles or do you want to worry about a little fat that will come off during another cycle? Clean bulks work for the gifted, not the norm. Many lifters would benifit by increasing their healthy fats and lowering their carb intake during a mass cycle. Go back to your college Biology 101 text and look at the backbones of lipids and steroids.....Work hard, eat big, get big!
