No one was talking about performing 1rm whilst doing these exercises. Yes we were talking about overall power (somehow).... but that can be trained doing multiple reps. If you disagree, then there would be no one doing 6-10 rep sets at all.

If you read the prevalent literature about swiss ball traininig, you will see that power output is DECREASED for the main movement. You CAN'T train the movement as hard. It is a specific adaptation.

My personal definition of core is that overall "I'm strong" feeling. The main things that give me that are:

1. Clean and Press
2. Squats
3. Bench

I practice doing overhead presses without back support from then on for just this purpose.
