fat guys have the most prominent abs???

I don't know if it's just me, but it seems that the most overweight guys, after getting rid of all their fat, tend to have the most visible and clearly shaped sixpacks i've ever seen.

But when I compare the "before" photos of skinny-to-average-bodied guys, their "after" photos don't seem to have such clear-cut abs, even after losing their fat. Is it just something with big guys? Do they just have naturally bigger abs that become very visible after all the fat is gone?

Is it that they had more muscle to begin with than skinny guys and therefore have more muscle to show off after dieting?

You could make the assumption that because the bigger guys have been carrying around more mass, they would have larger abdominal muscles in order to compensate for the extra weight. The skinnier guys wouldn't have the natural bulkiness in the abs because it wouldn't so much be required, as their abs have less weight to support.. make sense?

that's what i'd put it down to anyhow.... i'm hoping when i shed the rest of my bodyfat i'll have huge abs like that seeing as i was so big..

Its also why when people cut down 50-100 pounds their calf muscles look incredible, compared to someone who bulked up to the same weight.

Well, when ur overweight, ur constantly carrying a lot more weight than an average person, therefore muscle will develop better hence the heavier weight they're carrying. Big and defines calves are common with overweight people, so are abs.

It is genetics, but ive also heard that if u have small pecs u have a better chance of having a 8 pack, coz the top abs are usually covered by bigger pecs...or something like thats. Correct me if im wrong.

I have not noticed this with 'fat' people with 'big' people obviously since they are big carrying a lot of fat and MUSCLE.

If been overweight a big part of my life and playing soccer was keeper last few years so i had to jump alot especially with bad defence . But if i compare my calves with those of other people mine look alot bigger even if they still have some fat around it.
