This thread is to compare/contrast HIIT cardio on either the upright or recumbent bike.
Based on my experience with both, here is what i have found:
1)I personally feel upright hits my middle and outer quad more
2)easier to go at a higher resistance because of the angle
1)puts stress on lower back
2)I personally do not feel my teardrop working
1)I believe recumbent hits my teardrop really hard
2)overall HIIT seems harder/more intense on recumbent bike
3)no lower back stress
1)personally i do not feel my middle/outer quad being worked
IMO, I slightly prefer the recumbent bike, but I believe it is best for a person to alternate using both bikes so as to hit all parts of the quad most effectively.
I am interested in hearing the opinions of others, especially on what part of your quad muscle you feel the bikes hitting. (obviously you will feel it in the entire quad, but try to describe which part of the quad you feel it most)
