CitadelArmyJAG's MET-Rx AMPED ECN Log
Well Folks, Here it finally is... My MET-Rx AMPED Log.
I started to not feel well shortly before my AMPED arrived, and found out just a couple days after I had contracted Mono. (Nice pre-Christmas present, huh?)
I have been out of commission for quite a while with the mono, which unfortunately you just have to wait out. Since I missed a about a month's worth of lifting and athletic activity (mostly brazilian jiu-jitsu,) I lost a significant amount of weight and strength and generally felt miserable.
I am hoping that AMPED will help get me back quickly to where I was, and then help me push beyond.
I really look forward to sharing this log with the BB.com community, and look forward to interaction with other members and a lot of fun on this thread. I am pumped and ready to go.
Now lets get started....

Training Experience
I have always participated in sports, but only started lifting 9 years ago. Aside from bodybuilding, I have been a tri-athlete, a long term wrestler, and I am currently into MMA submission wrestling and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Training Routine/Schedule
All workouts done in morning in a superset with oppository muscle groups with Cardio following in the afternoon. Right now emphasis is on heavy weights with a rep range from 4-8 with 4 sets of each specific exercise... (reps decreasing in each set as weight goes up)
Each lifting workout takes around 55 minutes and is followed by a post workout shake.
Afternoon Cardio comprises of 2-3 hours of grappling or BJJ, or an hour of treadmill or cycling.
Morning
sun: Off day, but intensive stretching
mon: chest/back
tues: legs/lower back
wed: bi/tri/shoulder
thurs: chest/back
fri: legs/lower back
sat: bi/tri/shoulder
Afternoon
sun: Off day, intensive stretching
mon: wrestling/bjj
tues: wrestling/bjj
wed: Run/bike/treadmill
thurs: wrestling/bjj
fri: Run/bike/treadmill
sat: wrestling/bjj
Sun: Off
Each day includes abdominal work and stretching.

thanks guys...
I trained for about 6 months 2 years ago during my last semester at The Citadel. Since we were a team, we didnt use belts (our instructor told us belts are to hold your pants up, and nothing else -so we didnt worry about them.) Once I graduated, commissioned, and moved, it took me a while to find a place to keep learning, though I rolled with friends a lot to keep my skills and add some stuff to my bag of tricks. I actually used a lot of instructional videos to pick up new stuff.
At the begining of this year I found a place taught by a Saulo Ribeiro purple belt, and Saulo often comes to teach (as it is one of his schools.) When I went and rolled with the instructor, he was full of compliments and wanted to take me up to see Saulo to get tested for my bluebelt. He is testing this year in March after the Gracie World Submission Tournament at the Arnold Classic... I will test then...
We go twice a week in Gi and twice out of Gi... I prefer without the Gi, but enjoy both.

MET-Rx AMPED... First Serving was Today.
I cracked the seal on my AMPED this afternoon.
Label Information and More Misc from the BB.com store
http://bodybuilding.com/store/met/amp.html
AMPED First Impressions
When I first opened the container the first thing I noticed was the smell, which smells exactly like Hawaiian Punch and looks like cherry Kool Aid. It
Mixability
I put two scoops (40g) into my Shaker and filled it up with 20 fl. ounces of water.
As the directions indicate, I drank half 30 minutes prior to my workout, and the rest right before I began. It mixed easily, though I found I had to keep shaking it to prevent some of the mix, which didn’t seem to dissolve, from settling to the bottom of the shaker.
Taste
The taste was really pretty good… It has sort of a bitter aftertaste, which I am guessing is from the caffeine. It tastes like Hawaiian punch, with the addition of the slight bitterness of the aftertaste.

mononucleosis is a virus that puts you out of commission for anywhere from 3-6 weeks. You have a really bad sore throat and it SUCKS your energy level dry. The bad part is that since it is a virus, they cant give you any medicine for it; they can only treat the symptoms. They also call it the kissing disease, stay away from it bro.... Its a bad thing to come down with.

First AMPED workout... Chest and Back
I didnt make it into the gym yesterday, so I pushed back my weekly lifting schedule by a day... I did however get about 2 hours of mat time in, going one on one with my instructor.
I did Chest/Back today -though Tuesdays are normally for legs.
I rolled on the mats for 2.5 hours this morning from 9-11:30, so even around four when I was getting ready to go to the gym I was really feeling kind of drained and tired, but motivated nevertheless.
Once I took the AMPED, I didnt feel anything for about 15 minutes, at which point I started to feel the energy rush.
It was a clean stimulant effect that didnt really give me the nervous jittery feeling that some stimulants do, though it wasnt as subtle as the calm, focused lift that yerba gives me, which is more subtle.
Once I downed the other 10 fl. ounces, I really started to feel the AMPED doing its thing. My heart rate picked up and I got a nice energy rush as I stretched out with my bands and did a couple light reps with the dumbells. I had to take off my sweatshirt and beanie (which I usually lift in, if not at least for the first couple sets) because I felt REALLY hot.
1st Superset
10 reps of Incline DB presses with 70 (30 seconds rest)
10 wide grip pullups (30 seconds rest)
8 reps w/ 75 (30 seconds rest)
10 wide grip pullups (30 seconds rest)
6 reps w/ 80 (30 seconds rest)
10 wide grip pullups (30 seconds rest)
[b]2nd Superset[b/]
10 flat bench db presses 85 (30 seconds rest)
10 bent over dumbell rows 85 (30 seconds rest)
8 w/ 90 (30 seconds rest)
10 w/ 90 (30 seconds rest)
6 w/95 (30 seconds rest)
8 w/95 (30 seconds rest)
3rd Superset
10 decline presses w/85 (30 seconds rest)
10 decline dbl flys w/35 (30 seconds rest)
8 w/90 (30 seconds rest)
10 flat db flys w/35 (30 seconds rest)
6 w/95 (30 seconds rest)
10 Incline db flys w/35 (30 seconds rest)
3rd Superset
10 Cable flys w/55 (30 seconds rest)
10 T-bar Rows w/180
10 w/65 (30 seconds rest)
10 w/190 (30 seconds rest)
10 w/75 (30 seconds rest)
10 w/200
Post workout protein shake...
AMPED Conclusions after 1st workout
My strength and size is really down from being sick, which really kind of puts you in a bad mood and cant get the weights up how you were before. Also, being pretty drained from my earlier BJJ workout also left me running a little low for my workout.
The AMPED helped me gear up and push through all the BS and still get a pretty damn good workout in. No, I didnt get a great pump today, but yes I got a good workout, lifted to failure, and got a damn good sweat going.
While I try to gear for 30 seconds of rest b/w each phase of the supersets (as above) today I was running pretty low and took more time to rest. While I can usually do this workout in about 50 minutes (which is hauling) today I did it in about 1 hour 15 minutes. The AMPED effects didnt start to wear off until the very end of my work out when I was finishing the last set and downing my post workout shake. I came home, ate 2 turkey rubins on the foreman grill, and didnt have any noticable crash.
For my first trial of AMPED, I would say I am more than pleased by the product, which I honestly believed helped me get a good workout today, under less than optimal circumstances. I think it will help me recover much quicker to where I was in the begining of december and push me further towards my bulking goal to hit 210 (before then starting to cut.)

I’m glad to hear that you’re feeling better. It really has been a great experience doing the Amped Log because everyone in the tester group has been so supportive.

Thanks Dprincess... I am feeling really really good these days. I am fairly sore from yesterday, though I think most of it is probably from grappling.
My chest is moderatly sore, but my back is really feeling it. Despite going to bed late, I feel nice and rested today, which is good, since today is leg day.

Best of success to you, Citadel. I have no doubt that you will regain your weight soon, and will probably be badder than before.
I have gained at least 5 lbs, and my strength through good workouts and AMPED and eating, has shot up. I know AMPED helped me bench press 325 a week before Christmas, and my best lift 6 months ago was 305.
You will do better than me, from the looks of your genetics.

Thanks for the kind words bro... I dont eat elephants but I do enjoy clubbing ----------------------------- baby seals, which are quite tastey.
After I get back from the gym (leaving in 45 minutes) I will get the digital camera out and post some pics.

Once you get into it a little more, I would suggest taking it pre-cardio to see how you like it. On non-lifting days where I run and then do martial arts, I have been experimenting with taking one scoop 30 min. pre and then one scoop during and have actually felt some good results such that I do not feel as exhausted during training. Just a thought. Good luck

Workout 2: Leg Day
Ok... Today was leg day. I downed the first half of my AMPED at 5, hit the gym at 5:30, and finished the 2nd serving of AMPED in the car there.
When I got to the gym I was pumped. I was energized, rested, had eaten well today, and was ready to lift. There werent too many people in the gym so I set up my supersets and here's how it came down.
1st Superset (the AssKicker)
10 reps of ass to ground narrow stance squats w/ 135 (Warmup)
10 reps of dead lifts w/ 135 (warmup)
10 w/ 179 (30 seconds rest)
10 w/ 179 (30 seconds rest)
10 w/ 225 (30 seconds rest)
10 w/ 225 (30 seconds rest)
10 w/ 247 (30 seconds rest)
10 w/ 247 (30 seconds rest)
10 w/ 267 (30 seconds rest)
10 w/ 267 (30 seconds rest)
(This superset hits you hard, but I love it... Those narrow stance squats really nail the teardrop of the inner thigh.)
2nd Superset
10 wide stance leg press w/ 450 (No Rest)
12 calf presses on leg press machine w/ 500 (No Rest)
10 db lunges with 45 (No Rest)
10 w/ 500 (No Rest)
12 w/ 500 (No Rest)
10 w/ 50 (No Rest)
10 w/ 500 (No Rest)
12 w/ 500 (No Rest)

Glad you're feeling better and are able to start your log already! I'm sure you will get some good results from it, everyone else who did logs had good results thus far. The log looks good! Can't wait to see your results. If you have any questions or comments feel free to PM me.
