Who is the worlds largest or Strongest Powerlifter/Strongman?
I have always been curious about this. I know there are some famouse people who are the strongest compared to their size, I am asking not relavent to size, who holds the title biggest or strongest powerlifter. I am not sure if the biggest and Strongest are one in the same, but usualy size = strength. Ethier way I have always been interested in extreme strength. If he is the biggest what are his stats?

it depends....the natural powerlifter would be me of course....but on the gear would be be ED COAN as the strongets pound for pound bodyweight...as the heaveir lifters r doing the same lifts as him...but there are far heavier and their r some better benchers than him who r lighter in weight

I somewhat doubt that, where did you hear this?
I copied this onto my computer but appologise as I forget the source,
"The International Weightlifting Fedration's powerlifting records for bench press are categorized by the lifter's weight. In the heaviest category (225 lbs and over), the record is held by American lifter Antony Clark, who benched 682 pounds. The record has stood since 1994."
This sounds alot more likely.

sorry to disappoint you boys but it is true that he has lifted around these weights for the exercises in question:
ANTHONY CLARK
"THE WORLD'S STRONGEST MAN"
First teen to reverse grip bench press over 600 lbs.
First man to reverse grip bench press over 700 lbs.
World record in squat 1,031 lbs.
World record in bench press 800 lbs.
World record bench/deadlift/squat: Total 2,600 lbs.
Over 20 world records broken since 1992.
I got these from the following site:

i think that it depends on what view someone takes on WHO is the worlds strongest powerlifter / bodybuilder / olympic lifter r strong man...well it depends on what exercise you want is what i would suggest as there are people who just train for one exercise and they are far stronger than a person who does say powerlifting.
Example:No1: there are alot of top olympic weightlifters that have benn to the olympics and can only Bench press 300lb for 1 rep, maybe not even that! the reaon being they are specialists for the clean and jerk, snatch so these poeple are the strongest for this exercise.comaperd to say a powerlifter for the two exercises.
Example:No2:The worlds strongets man 2002 (cant spell his name), but he squated 10 reps at i think either 700lb are 750 but i dont actually think that they done that as the commentators views were off if you listend carfully about what they were actuall lifting. but any way back to what i was saying, these strongmen squated whatever but they are the strongets for their sport. but not squating as there are far better squaters in powerlifting
Example:No3: even big ronnie.c (mr olympia), he is really strong as i read in flex that he squated i think 700lb front squat for a few reps when he was dieating. top guy. i bet even a few strong men could not even do that as they couldnt squat it back squat style using all Powerlifting equipment.
I know i have fu*k up how to explain my point but i hope some one knows what i am getting at.

hes trying to say something like sports specfic training...such as...shure a powerlifter could bench more than a worlds strongest man competitor...but could not pick up rocks or do the carry and drag evens, farmeres walk as well...its just a matter of what you train for...as for who is strongest...i think it ranks as this...
1...worlds strongest men competiors
because of the TOTAL body strength having to move and run with the weights and have good cardio ability
plus they are all really strong in the big 3
2 powerlifters...strong in the big three...but lack in muscular endurance and are weaker i other parts of body....like a powerlifter i know who can squat oover 600 but cant leg curl more than 100 pounds or military press 135 for more than a few reps
3 olympic liftrs...strong...but i feel that their lifts are more technique and momentum rather than brute strenght

Personally I belive that Bill Kazmaier is the strongest human ever overall. He was both statically strong and explosively strong, as he set the IPF world powerlifting record total in very limited gear(no bench shirt, ace bandages for knee wraps, wrestling singlet) which stood from 1979 until Brian Siders broke it in 2004. He also won 3 worlds strongest man competitions with ease.
Pound for pound Ed Coan is probably the greatest powerlifter ever. He was technically perfect and an absolute professional, and great at every lift.

Anthony Clark was a beast no doubt, but he didn't have the overall strength that Bill Kazmaier had. Kaz was good at everthing, he not only dominated powerlifting, but he could dominate explosive lifting as seen in worlds strongest man.

Your little trauma sponge
Largest? Jeff Lewis now, but Grant Pitts was effing gigantic back in the day.
Strongest? Donnie Thompson has the closest chance of a 3000 total, so geared that'd be your answer. Raw it could be Stan Efferding or possibly Konstantinovs if he'd ever actually go balls-out on the bench or squat.

If you put gear on Bill Kazmaier back in the day he would have put up totals that would never be touched. It took like 25 years to break his total in the IPF that was basically raw anyway.

No. Benni Magnusson is considerably stronger than both those guys raw albeit at a higher bodyweight. It would be interesting to see what Donnie could do if he squatted to depth but I dunno if that will ever happen.

From what I've seen Zydrunas could probably total more weight than anybody else if he wanted to.

He's my favorite strongman bar none. I was just thinking in the PL area. If you're talking SM, then Savickas is the best. PERIOD.
