I never really pay attention to total cal burned while doing cardio. My main focus is heart rate.
This machines are just a guesstimate on how many cals you use anyway.
When i do an hour of low intensity in the AM on a treadmill mill i keep my HR around 140-145.I have looked at the total cals burned and its usually 450+. But the treadmill doesnt know how much i weight or my age etc so it is a very raw number to say the least.myspace.com/in2fitnez

I am not really sure that it matters to be honest Ske.
As long as you are getting your HR up to where you need it you are fine.
Is there a reason why you are wanting to know an exact number?
Because really just do what you need to continue dropping Bf.I wouldnt focus to much on total cals. Just keep track of HR and time.
This way you can add or subtract time as you judge you bf loss or gain.
Sorry i am begining to think i am not being much help LOLmyspace.com/in2fitnez

I do low intensity cardio for 45 min and I burn around 400-450 calories.

You need to do enough so your making progress in either direction bulk or cut. Forget about cal burned use time and HR and then if you are cutting and you arent losing bf fast enough either lower your diet cals or pump up alittle more cardio.I choose to eat more therefore i tend to do much more cardio then most people.
There is no specific number you need to do what works for you.myspace.com/in2fitnez

I would recommend you pick a HR and a time limit as your only variables. "On my cardio days I'm going to keep my HR at X for Y minutes." That's it. Use the calories on the machine as a way to estimate your nutritional needs for the day.

I look at it like this if your diet was bassd on a 2000 calorie diet to stay at your weight you drop 500 of those to start to loose then you do cardio say 3 times a week and you burn what you said 460 cals.
so when you were on that 2000 calorie diet you dropped that 500 so now your at 1500 then you did cardio now your at 1040 for that day i would say that is good.www.myspace.com/xsquizet

Wow, y'all are doing a lot of cardio. I average out about 10 cal/min on the treadmill (according to the machine, which knows my weight and heart rate), so if I do 25 minutes = ~250, 45 min = ~400-450. It has worked well for me.
I also bike, anywhere from 35-120 min, but it's hard to compare the intensity. My sense is that long, low-intensity biking is the best fat-loss cardio for me.
