I have had a lot of trouble keeping my grip with dead lift lately. I usually rep 275 8 times, 305 6 times and 325 3 to 4 times for deadlift during my back workout, but lately at the same weight I used to be able to do my right hand has had trouble from my first set on holding on. Has anyone else had this problem? I have heard that deadlifting without straps will help you build forearms, and that it is better overall to do it without straps, so I would like to not have to use straps but I do have a pair if I have to start using them. Am I just at that wieght where I have to start using them, or will building my forearms more help me do higher wieght?
My grip is one palm forward and one palm backwards.

Doing direct forearm work should help your grip. Try doing some grip work as well like plate pinches.

I use to do deads with underhand grip (both palms facing me). The first three set I don't use straps, however, I usually get fatigue during the fourth set and this is where I begin to use straps. It's up to you. Sometimes I don't use straps at all because it all depends on how I feel on that day. Of course I do some db wrist curls and plate curls.

start doing static barbell holds where you put the bar on the power rack safety pins a lil above your knees. load up 350 and time yourself to see how long you can you can hold on to it when you pull it up. then try to beat the time the next workout.

good piosts by the others... Yeah, maybe try a dif grip. I switched from underhand to alternate, been able to grip with a lot more ease. Of coarse the last set a little fatique sets in, but i can last throughout the workout.
Tryin to be an all-around stud:
bench max = 250lbs
squat max = 355lbs
deadlift = 365lbs
Power Clean = 185lbs
40 yard dash = 4.5sec
1 mile run = 5:04 min

well, if you're not competing in powerlifting events....why not just use straps? Yeah, do some forearms work to build those muscles, but you're not doing deadlifts to build forearms, you're doing them for your back. I have deadlifted 600+ before, but there is no way I could have done it without straps.

I typically use straps for the heavy sets and use an overhand grip for both hands.
