Any New Year's Resolutions???

Well...I figured I'd make this thread so that everyone could post their New Year's Resolutions out loud!

I'm going to make a New Year's Resolution to eat clean!

Lately, and I know it's mainly because of the Holidays, I haven't been eating properly and it really frustrates me! I will succeed. But you know what, I'm going to start my New Year's Resolution tomorrow, even though it's a little early...I just can't stand to think that I'm not eating properly. I've decided to begin with a Zone type diet. It's where you do 40% Carbs/ 30% fats/ 30% protein. I've seen alot of women success themselves with this diet and I'm going work on it myself!!! If anyone has any good meal recipes they want to share...PLEASE let me know. I'll be eating alot of white fish and turkey *Giggles* They're two of my favorite meats. .

Well. . . Wish me luck and I wish everyone else the BEST of luck on their New Year's Resolutions. Maybe a few of us could get together and have a periodic report thread or something!

Good luck!

Mine is 16"arms and 10%bf by the end of March. That should be interesting - I am going to lose 3% of my body fat (no problem) while gaining a half an inch on my arms (big problem).

Oh, I have faith in ya. Sounds like you're at an AWESOME BF% right now! How did you do it??? I'd love to be about 14% before summer. Got any suggestions? I've already been eating clean. For example, my dinner tonight consisted of:
A fillet of tilapia(grilled) with lemon pepper.
A serving of brown rice, no seasonings.
A serving of broccolli, a dash of salt.
and an apple.

For my daily fitness routine I run mainly, at least 40 minutes.
I do weight training each day, probably 3 different muscles each day.
It works for me .

Since you obviously already have a good body fat percentage, what good suggestions can you give? I currently have a BF% of 18.5%. That's not TOO bad, but obviously, I wanna make it better!

I think you'll be able to achieve your goal, sounds like you're already doing fantastic!!!

Mine is not fitness related but I aim to remember and send cards to all family members and good friends and their children for their birthdays and anniversaries.

Thanks FNF! I'm a guy so bf is normally lower than a girl. 18.5 is not bad - I bet you look great. Your diet looks good (from what I can see by one meal - you don't want to know what all I eat) - you may just have to be patient - remember consistency is more important than intensity so be persistent and don't let anything get you down. Always remember you are in better shape than 95% of the population!

I truly wish I could give you some kind of earth shattering secret but I don't have any. I'm the guy who can eat anything he wants and stay very slim. To bulk I have to eat so much and so often that I'm miserable 24/7. When I finish a bulk I normally begin losing fat almost immediately and don't stop until I'm around 10% - to get lower all I have to do is only eat when I get hungry and 8-9% will happen in short order with no discomfort. Unfortunately, this also means I will probably be a little skinnier than I want to for the rest of my life so I do work out religiously and eat more than I want at least four times a day. I also teach two or three classes of full contact Kyokushin Karate four nights a week and have been involved in some sort of martial art for 22 years so that probably helps me stay lean (and burns off a lot of cals I could be using for building muscle).

I agree with what you said on the whole consistancy thing. It seems as though I've been sticking with everything I'm doing, and gradually I'm losing the body fat percentage, and even measurements are going down .
I've got a few friends like you, all men, that can eat whatever and stay looking good hheehe. Wish I could do that! That's alright, heheh. I let myself have a few things that I like, mostly just one thing(mt dew).
I think I'll stick to your advice on consistancy deal. It's totally true, and probably the best thing ANYone can do in my situation .

Even though it's not fitness related, that is a pretty special thing to have as a resolution. It's hard to remember-or have the time to-send cards and things to all your loved ones. I don't usually have the time, and most likely I would accidentally leave someone out! It's easy todo!

I've never been a resolution maker per se, but this year I thought it would be great to set some goals! (Sorry, I've been off work since the 23rd w/ no net access, so I'm late chiming in)

1. Squat my bodyweight by the end of the year

2. Bench my bodyweight by the end of the year

3. Do a pullup or chinup unassisted by July 1

4. Do a dip unassisted by July 1

Those are the "biggies" I know I've written into my planner - a couple will be fairly easy, and a couple might be pretty hard (or maybe it just seems like it might be) - either way I thought it would be great to have things to shoot for.

Wow! You all sure do have great resolutions and they're all realistic and I know you'll get 'em!

My first goal of my resolution is to(my birthday is at the end of march too) goto King's Island(Ohio) and look hott as they come!! I wanna wear some cute sporty haltertop outfit or something, and just feel great! That's my goal for the end of march. I look decent now, and I think it'll be achieveable!!!

ok, I've been on a bulk for a year (I just started lifting heavy 1 year ago), and my waist has gone up by an inch

1. Lose an inch off my waist (elsewhere too, but this I can measure)
2. Be more consistent with workouts.
3. Have a consistent healthy diet
4. Take the stairs and not the elevator

im pretty late to, but mine are:

1. be able to run at 5.6 for 30 minutes straight by the end of the year
(i am at 5.4 for 20minutes right now)

2. improve my hiit

3. travel to at least 4 other countries besides the united states

4. be more in control of my finances

5. improve all around strength- a few pounds will be fine with me

6. volunteer somewhere

i know i have alot, but but 1,2,and 5 pretty much all go together. the hardest for me will be #4.

I think both of you are going to hit your goals alot sooner than you think.
It's really nice to see people set realistic goals. I'm constantly around people that set goals that are way too unrealistic and then they fail, and I try to make them realize that. There are alot of girls at my gym that fall into the "unrealistic goals" category. You all are pretty smart about fitness, thank goodness you're on this forum!!!

Good luck to all of you! My New Year's resolution is to eat better, be consistent with my workouts, train my arms with heavier weights, commit to an ab workout, and lose this layer of fat on my stomach and on my lower back (above my butt). I decided that I have to get serious, after my husband pointed out that he never sees my body any more. I'm just too embarrased, and it's wearing on me. Last summer I refused to wear a bathing suit, even though my daughter wanted me to swim with her. I'm so self conscience- and have been since getting pregnant with my second child (he's now 2). It's been a LONG time since I've had that confidence to wear something sexy. It's a challenge to stay committed, but I can't use any excuse to prevent me from reaching my goals. I MUST do it.
I think my diet is going to be the determining factor. Right now I don't have much of a waist. I notice that when I eat clean and pay attention to getting enough protien and limiting cabs, my body responds well. I just need to stay on course.
I love coming here-I will continue to read and learn from you!
