    to me that looks like seated dips?
    never really tried it seems like a waist of time when they have weighted dips.

    ..Seated dips? Sounds like a waste of time. Do dips the way you're supposed to on the parallel bars, or the angled ones, use some weight if you have to.

    maxing the machine is nothing special cos the 3+ pulleys make the mechanical advantage (3:1) meaning the heavy weight is easier to lift...
