I find that (usually) women who dress like that are the cardio bunnies. I have no clue if they want attention or not.

The women who lift weights, tend not to dress in JUST sports bras and shorts. I will usually wear a t-shirt, usually sleeveless, and shorts.

However, this is at my gym. Have no clue what they are thinking in other places.

I can't speak for everybody because personally I don't do that. I would feel naked. But I guess it depends on the person. Some girls might do it for attention and some girls might do it because that is what is comfortable for them. I bet alot of girls do it because that is what is comfortable for them. In my opinion, you are men, bottom line is you are gonna look. (and I don't mean that in a bad way, it's just the way the majority of men are) If I did wear something like that I would pretty much expect to be looked at by both sexes just because it is alot of skin. It's just human nature. All you can do is be polite and not actually stare or gawk, I guess. If a woman chooses to wear that because its comfortable, it would make them uncomfortable being stared at.
BTW, in Dallas, I think most of these girls do it for attention. (atleast at my gym)

In warm weather I dress that way for comfort... my gym gets hot. I hate having a lot of hot fabric sticking to me when I'm sweating. In the winter, I'll wear a babydoll tee and yoga pants. I don't dress for the guys; I dress for myself... what's comfortable, makes me feel confident and helps me see what I'm doing. How can you check your form if you're wearing an oversized T and baggy sweatpants? I don't mind if guys look as long as they don't gawk.

What difference does it make? I've worn a XXL t-shirt, with sweat pants I had to tie to keep on... and men still stared. In fact, I got asked out while wearing that exact get-up.

I dress however I want to nowdays. Men stare regardless of what I wear, so I dress as I feel comfortable at any given moment.

I can tell you stories about strange times men have asked me out. Looking probably about as bad as I could possibly look, if I TRIED to look horrible...

There is no rhyme nor reason in when men stare, so don't try to put it off on women, "you must want us to look, dressing like that." That's your personal thing.

If women tried to dress so that men wouldn't stare at us, we'd have to dress in tents with little holes to look out of. Except then you all would stare just because we looked weird. It's impossible!

I will just speak for myself here, I dont wear shorts to the gym because when you are perspiring you tend to stick to things. I do wear sports bras (not the short ones) cuz this is what I am comfortable in, as far as pants I wear whatever is comfy some days fitted, some days looser. Thats just me.

I wear what I feel comfortable in not for the guys to stare me down like a piece of meat. For instance Friday I was wearing some shorts which use to be loose(I have not worn them in awhile) and are a little tight. I have been well rounded from the squats back there and since bulking its reallllllly round. So as I walk by these guys just as I go around the corner one says a little loud Boy that is some junk in that trunk mmm...mmm..mm. Of course then I was totally shy about walking back by. Yes I knew my shorts were tight but that is all I had in my gym bag.

That is what is uncalled for. I am there to work out not be bothered.

This is pretty interesting. I workout in the privacy of my own home, so I wear what's comfortable for me. I have never even been in a gym. However, I do have to agree with a former comment that some do it for attention, others for what's comfortable, especially if you live in a place where the climate is very miserable in the summer time. If I had a great, toned body, sure I would show it off, but probably not by wearing just a sports bra and a pair of shorts that show off the bottom of my butt cheeks.

I wear whatever i feel like that day. the most revealing outfit being a tank top and capri style WO pants! which is hardly revealing at all. i like to wear strappy tank tops sometimes when I am doing upper body because I can see my muscles working! But there are times when I am in a baseball cap, big baggy adidas pants and a big t-shirt.

I must say there was this lady at the gym who was wearing only a sports bra and SHORT shorts, and she proceeded to do all these streches in the free weight room, bending over so her A$$ was completeley showing and her boobs hanging out of her bra. Asking for attention? I thinks so. There is a streching room at the gym, and no need to do that in a room full of testosterone.

I usually wear 3/4 length tights and a singlet to the gym but if it is very hot, I will wear shorts. I only take my top off if I am running on the treadmill and I start to get chafing under my arms.

That's comfortable! I hate sleeves and it's hard to find a good tank top. I figure if they want to stare, good for them - it doesn't hurt me any. I mean really, so some guy stares, I guess I don't see why it's bothersome unless they're being obnoxious. In that case, I just say something like, "Do you have a problem?"

I don't wear that stuff, but I always wear clothes that show my arms and legs enough so I can see what I'm doing, and tight enough to be able to supervise my form. In toher words, I don't do anything so people of any sex could watch me, I wear stuff I wear so *I* could watch me. I'm narcissoid that way...

i wear a small t-shirt and little shorts to the gym because it feels better when i'm exercising with less baggage.

But i go to a women's only gym, and sometimes i feel like i'm getting dirties (but these women are pretty large/overweight) so i just ignore everything, listen to my music and pedal away

i wear whatevver....either baggy pants and sports bra or baggy shorts and tank top..something like that....its whatever is comfy..when i'm running i like to have only a sports bra on becuase i sweat like a hog...(hot i know) anyways, i don't like attention when i'm in the gym but guys usually hit on me when i loook my worst and am bloated and nasty

Personally, I admire a woman who has the courage to leave the house with very little clothing on. It is an expression of self confidence. It portrays to me at least, a woman who is proud of what she has achieved - a woman of strength and courage. It reflects a woman with a strong mind. These women are not to be and should not be confused with the women dressed in such a way and standing on the street corner looking to impress their pimps and make a few bucks.

It takes strength, guys, to be able to look at a beautiful woman and not feel compelled to walk over and bore her to death with simple one liner's. Because a woman expresses pride in such a way, does not mean she is out looking for sex or trying to "hook another fish" on her line.

And, why should it be acceptable for a man, yet not for a woman to dress in this fashion? Perhaps this is more than most of you would like to know, but during the summer I quite often leave the house with nothing more on than a pair of shorts and sandals. That's right; no shirt, no underwear, and no socks - nothing but shorts and sandals - period! One small piece of fabric covering my loins. And yet, no one confuses me with Tarzan or a gigolo and while women do occasionally approach me, it is not the same as what a woman must endure. There was only one time in my life I actually was made to feel like a piece of meat. I walked through an office environment riddled with cubicles all occupied by women one day after sweating in a warehouse with only a pair of shorts and a tank top on. Yes, I felt like a piece of meat that day; like they were looking right through my clothing. I simply could not imagine being made to feel this way each and every day. It takes strength to overcome this on a daily basis.

Back in the 70's and I've said this before, it was quite common to go out and see women dressed in nothing but tights and a bodysuit with a pair of heels on - stilettos at that! Today it's baggy, worn out jeans, long sleeve shirts that fall over their hands, and ugly-as-they-come, big, blocky, guy-looking shoes. So, be happy to see a woman dressed in such a way at the gym or anywhere for that matter because unlike the 70's, it's become a sight not often seen in America today. And, give her a break; spare her your witty one liner's. Be a man and practice a bit of control. You are not suffering or being tortured by her attire or lack thereof.

Most all of us do have a desire to have our body admired from the hard work we put into it. We all have a tendency to want to be evaluated whether it is our work or the way we look. When someone says "good job" we feel good. When someone says "you look nice today" we say "thank you" and it makes us feel good, too. I think it's safe to say that from having to cover ourselves throughout our lives, we all silently wish we could stand in a room full of people with nothing on and have them offer their feedback. But, this is not reality for most of us and so, we do tend to leave the house sometimes with as little on as possible hoping for feedback, but unfortunately the only feedback we tend to get is what we can ascertain from the looks we receive.

You know, when I was a young man I could walk over to a woman whom I had never met before and tell her what I thought without fear. If she had a great pair of legs I could walk over and say "Hey, you have great legs." Or, "You have a wonderful figure." Or, "You wear your makeup quite well; you look very beautiful." And you know what; the husbands and boyfriends, if present, were also fine with this; they, too, took pride in the woman they were with.

To a degree, we have raised a nation of pussies. Guys today are quite insecure and if I were to walk over and say such a thing to their woman today they would almost surely feel threatened, rather than to feel pride. Guy's today feel threatened at just the thought of their woman talking with another man or leaving the house dressed rather skimpily.

At any rate, offer them the respect they deserve for showing such strength and courage when they show up dressed in such a way. You really have to admire this in a woman...

It's not a total bad thing to have guys look at you, especially if you know you look cute *Grins*
I myself am a Cardio Bunny! I sometimes wear things like that, and when I run(especially outdoors during the hott summer) I personally like to wear bikini top and little shorts simply because I dont like the feeling of clothing clinging to me when I run. Running is my main cardio thing and I like to wear as little as possible... I say feel free to look because girls that wear outfits like that must not care because obviously they're going to get looked at...plus if they workout alot they must look cute so they're proud of their figures

it doesn't bother me when people look at me. *Shrugs* heheheheh

I hear ya! When I wear skimpy gym clothes other women (like the ones you described) DO definitely give me dirty looks. I don't do it to make them feel bad, and then It makes me feel as though I should cover up more...
BUT why should I have to cover up more? I've worked ALOT harder on my body than they have and whenever they get their perfect body I'd be more than happy to see them strut their stuff around, ya know?
