Hey Zig. You're setup seems fine to me. Heck, your workout space is indoors and probably nicely air conditioned. Mine is in the garage and in the summer the temp reaches 125 out there (I still love it though).

I'm with Dhartnet on this one - basement is great. I wish I had a nice cool basement. However, I make due with the garage, and even though the cars sit out in the AZ sun, I'm ok with it

It doesn't have to require deep pockets. You can buy used (I buy quite a lot used), and you can usually negotiate prices. I have also built a few pieces of equipment. Shop around. Take a look at craigslist.com, eBay, the local newspaper classifieds, Play It Again Sports, and so on...

AZ mike is very true. I got my leg press which is like $900- $1000.00 (new with shipping) for only $320.00 in like new condition just last week off of craigslist. I did pay new prices for my other pieces but if I knew about craigs list I could have saved a bunch. Dont skimp on quality or you will be sorry later. Just save and buy a little at a time. It may take a couple years.

What a hoot ! Excellent. And the point being made is that it doesn't take a lot of $$$ for a home gym. I agree. In my case, I tend to go overboard. However, for me its part of the enjoyment. Just like working out.

    Great link. Thanks !

everything is great on it, but i must say the leg curl bar (the one that rests on your thighs could be a bit longer, i can't really squeeze in there...)

the lower pully is good but there is a design flaw where if you drop the weights too fast the rubber stopper gets pulled through to the pulley. this is easily avoided by slowing letting it down when done with a set. can't comment specifically on bicep curl, as i mainly do hammer curls, concentration curls and bicep curls with dumbells.

    cheers.

The plates don't have any markings on them so im not sure what brand. I purchased them second hand off ebay, all olympic etc. The seller could not tell me what brand they were when asked either, but they have been perfect so far.

And the bench is a Power House Pro, again second hand off ebay.

How much money do you have into your gym? It looks fantastic. Could you post a list of your "must have" pieces of equipment? I'm on my way--but still a few pieces away.

I have no idea how much I have in my equipment, I built half of it my self and bought the other pieces over the last 20 plus years. My list of must haves are pretty simple.

    Power Rack
A Bench That Does Incline, Decline and Flat
    Weight Set
    and Maybe some dumbells

It really does not matter how much or what equipment you have 21 years ago I was 5"6" 235lbs and a lard ass, I decided to stop smoking and start working out about 1 year later I was 155lbs you could see my abs and I was in great shape. All the equipment I had was a $ 19.95 bench and a plastic weight set. 20 years later I'm still 5"6" 215lbs and you can almost see my abs.

You said it Rocket. Absolutely right ! The basics can work just fine. It really depends upon how much "you" want to put into it - and I don't mean $$$.

I also have been building my gym for many years. While I am very happy with what I have and plan to continue adding over time, its really become part of the hobby for me. The more important part is hitting the iron.

    Sorry Rocket

I'm truely sorry, not trying to bother anyone. I'm just trying to get my equipment sold. I know someone is going to jump on the deal, but it's hard finding a person close enough to me for delivery. Again, I'm sorry.

I have the same bench and a similair weight set set up in a room in my baseball. The walls are covered with sports posters. I also have an oldschool bench with really close racks, some cheap, light dumbells, and EZ Bar. Its not much but I can work hard down there when I cannot get to the gym. I soon hope to be getting a squat rack with a chinup bar on top. Ill try to get pics soon
