thanks. this is just my outdoor setup. i'm going to have new indoor photos soon . I will workout in the shed but first I have to make it taller. its not quite tall enough for the power rack I have stored in there. I mainly wanted an area to do deadlifts without worrying about ending up in my crawl space, along with hitting the punching dummy, and this will work for now.

Nice set up, and on the plus side it looks like there is a lot of room for expansion . Repped !

Thanks and yea, I got plenty of room. Was just about to replace the multipress with a commecial squat rack station but totaled my car over the weekend (hit a deer) so gonna have to put that off for a few more months now.
I'd love to hear other suggestions of what to add to the room. I'll put together a list of what I currently have now. As said already I want to get a squat rack and besides that thinking about an assisted pull up machine. Other than that I'm not sure whats available but need something that uses plates for rows and pull downs and such. I'm maxing out on some of the cable machine exercises even with a bar connecting both sides (total 400lbs with both stacks)Disabled Combat Veteran (11B)

Here's a few pics of my dining room/workout room. I wish I had more room but it is what it is at this point. If my wife would let me I'd take the living room over.

Yea Ive been undecided and going back and forth abouth the assisted pullup machine myself. I do have plenty of space though. The pictures I included dont show a large portion of the basement which is mainly empty. My only space issues are fighting some low hanging soffits in some spots. The assisted pullup machine would be primarly for the wife; not that I wouldnt try and take advantage of it too if we had it. But right now shes sort of doing her own assisted pullups with her feet on the top of a chair.
The landmine thing looks interesting but this is the first im seeing of it so would need to research it a bit more.
Oh I forgot to add pictures of one of my favorite home gym additions, my in-home personal trainer

You can hand bands on the handles for pull-ups. Slip a knee in the center of the band and it will be the same. With different size bands you can save money and the space.

Sugarfree, very sweet setup!
My first thought looking at your basement was - that doesn't look like a basement! Nice clean walls/lighting etc.
Suggestions? Rather than a new piece of equip for the wife you might want to look into some flooring options? She'll probably appreciate that too. Bringing the floor up to speck could truly make your gym look the money. I know wall to wall rubber tiling will get pricey, maybe you could polish the concrete? Great advantage for a home gym when you can just walk in barefooted and crank out a few sets.

Absolutely agree. I definitely need flooring but the basement is so friggin big its gonna cost me 3-5k to have done. I just keep thinking of other things to put that much money into when I have it...
Oh and the one time I got an estimate the guy was like I'm not doing this unless everything in here is completly moved out of the room. I was like where do you think Im gonna put all that...

My personal opinion is that you don't need dumbells, especially if you are short on space. Build yourself a good power rack, that includes a pullup bar, maybe sell your bench on CL and get a better one, and you are all set.
Keep an eye on CL for dumbells by all means and if you see some for less than 50 cents a lb go for it. They take up a lot of room though. Spinlocks aren't worth it, just too much hassle and the price adds up fast.
I have a bunch of dumbells on a rack and I never use them, I want to get them sold.

I have the bodysolid glce365 as well. Not a bad leg ext. leg curl but not as great as the ones in the gyms. For leg extensions it is pretty good, you feel well the weights on quads, for leg curls, I dont like the fact that when you come at the the top of the movement, feet neat your butt, you dont feel the weights, because it is plate loaded, the weight is distributed on the arm of the machine and not on your legs. I dont like the padding too. It is not leather, it is a spongy weird product, not as easy to clean as leather is. It is better than any attachment to a bench on the market but not as good as a selected leg curl and leg extension from a commercial brand. For the price, it is a good addition to a home gym.

I like it a lot, its a nice commercial grade and very sturdy like most Body-Solid equipment. I got a good price on it as pre-owned from the store I shop at.
With that said though, the newer Body-Solid incline/decline bench I have has a holder to put attachements on including (leg extension/curls, preacher curl, leg holder). I dont use this particular attachment but it may be an alternative specially if space is a concern.Disabled Combat Veteran (11B)

My Own Little Setup
Hey guys, just wanted to share some shots of my small boiler-room powerlifting setup. It’s a small space (10x18’, 78” ceiling height), but I’ve crammed a lot of functionality in there and I can do a lot with it. I’ve had up to 5 friends (all fellow competitive powerlifters) over training before, and it’s a great set up.
Equipment List:
Rack: Black Widow Training Gear custom-made. 6-post rack, rear-facing weight storage. 1.75” hole spacing. Top and bottom band pegs, 2 sets of j-cups and pin/pipe safeties.
Bars: CAP OB-86PB, crappy generic bar, original Crepinsek safety squat bar, BWTG Swiss bar, homemade fat bar
Weights: Ivanko ROE-ZH (16x45 and 8x25), Cap Barbell plates (8x10, 8x5, 4x2.5)
Bench: Icarian/Precor Super Bench 119 FI bench (incredible piece)
Dumbbells: IronMaster 5-120lbs
Misc: homemade box squat box, BWTG deadlift jack, homemade deadlift platform, EliteFTS Blast Straps, full set of EliteFTS bands (short+long), tons of other miscellaneous stuff.
Not nearly as impressive as some of the incredible setups in this thread, but for what I do, it's perfect and I couldnt be happier!

I have a few questions perhaps someone could help with.
Looking for some idea's/options for hanging/storing things such as cable machine accessories and attachments. I just can't decide if I want to do a regular type peg board or not and if it would detract from the look of the room if I did an entire wall with it.
I saw in the past a program that allowed you to plug in your room dimensions and equipment list and it would figure out how to best fit everything and also let you reposition things around the room. Would love to find that again. Anyone have any links to it or something similar?
As far as mirrors I was wondering what others may have done, how and where they purchased them. I have a good portion of my one wall covered but they are small in width panel type mirrors purchased from Lowes. I'd love to get something larger and more of a fitting cut for the wall but not to sure where to even get that done from. Also wondering if I should do the wall opposite mirrors so you can view both front and back while working out. How it might look and if there is any confusion caused by too many mirrors/views.
(My room pic's - post #4748)
Thanks in advance. Its great to see such a large productive thread and I enjoy seeing other's set-upsDisabled Combat Veteran (11B)

This is the one from Legend fitness. It has most of their equipment to choose from. You can resize each piece to the size of your similar pieces. Most equipment companies have a similar program.

nvs 180, that's a unique idea to have your weight storage horns attached in the foward facing position. Reps sent.
SugarFree1, I used mirrors from HomeDepot,I think they're 30x40 or close to that and they weren't very expensive.
edit, nvs180, I just saw you had embedded the pics instead of making the original post, reps for posting the pics.Last edited by irongrandpa; 11-08-2013 at 09:08 AM.

Gyms use "glassless mirrors" - google it for sources (they are not cheap). An affordable route is Home Depot's vanity mirrors for bathrooms - they have relatively inexpensive frameless ones with very little distortion (thicker = better). Personally, I don't like mirrors at all, especially in my squat rack. I believe it is best to film yourself until you have a sense of body position simply due to kinematics and proprioceptive feedback.

I'm currently using the legend fitness tool. Works pretty good!
Regarding mirrors - check with any hotels that are remodeling. A lot of times when they remodel they will sell their older stuff for cheap. I bought some mirrors from a men's dress store that went out of business also. Every once in awhile some large mirrors will show up on craigslist too.STAND TALL AND SHAKE THE HEAVENS!!
