Aight some pics of my mini home gym, hope it helps others who have the same issues I had.

The trick was fitting an extremely tiny unit, where there's no space for stuff to be lying around.
    • Standard weight rack to hold mixed standard & olympic weight plates.
    • The weight rack had to be stored in the bedroom, so used heavy duty turp cover to help keep the sulphur stench of the rubber.
    • The mats were sliced 2x100x100cm meter mats, to 2x80x70cm + 2x30x100cm. (more exercise flexibility + easier to store & move around)
    • 3rd pic shows process I've used to cut the rubber mats, using special jigsaw blades to give a straight clean slice.
    • Bench with low headroom for storage (will probably upgrade to an adjustable/foldable one)
    • Removable Pullup-Bar, last pic shows replacing those dodgy grips (more in this thread)

I'm new to this forum, but thought I'd share my home gym. I am down in South West France and bought an old farm to turn into holiday cottages. One of the first things we did was set up the gym in one of the barns. I've been getting it organised over the past year. There's still a few bits to add in, but its mostly done now.....

    Some nice set ups.

So want to move and do a man room. Half weight room, half "man cave". Man cave basically a stereo/TV for use when lifting. And a spot for a poker table.

I dont have space left for a preacher bench so I decided to improvise using the rack (outside spotter arms) and a bench pad from a preacher off Amazon that was around $100. The bench itself was too narrow so adding the pad works far better. Sorry for the crappy cell pic.

Thanks. It was a lot of fun finally being able to put this stuff together. Its an EliteFTS 3x3 but I added the half rack spotter arms. I underestimated how much I'd like the arms. Now I can set it up so that I'm doing squats in the rack and then move to seated calves, etc without having to change the setup.

That was a good idea getting the spotter arms for the outside of the rack, I may do this for my rack.

My 7' curl bar weighs 40 lbs, so his is probably in the same ballpark, if not heavier.

This ones a 6ft curl bar but rackable. Its probably 35 lbs max so the weight is around 125. I'll usually stick to a little lighter weight than that for preachers but I was using it for lower reps.

I've thought about making my own standing calf raise machine out of wood. If one needs to frame a basement anyway, you could litterally build it into a wall. You wouldn't need much more extra wood to pull it off.

    That is a beautiful gym!

Looks good, great choice of equipment, and very convenient being attached to your master bedroom. I'm jealous.

Thanks. I'm not 100% convinced that it being attached to the bedroom is the best location. We insulated and isolated it a bit (for sound) but its VERY easy for the wife to open up the door and ask me to do something. A basement would have been ideal (more isolated) but here in Texas thats not a usual option.

Its on the wall next to the treadmill. You can see part of it in the pic of the GHD (behind the bumpers and leg press). My wife wanted to do it wall to wall and ceiling to ground but I knew that the small room size meant there would likely be the occasional bar against the corner wall and pieces bumping up against the bottom of the wall (like bumpers in pic). We left room below the mirror instead of running it to the baseboard.
