I've used Icarian stuff before, its very heavy and strong stuff. Good find.

hmm, guess this is where i would rather have posted mine than the first sticky...kindof chat nazi in that thread. You guys have some phenomenal setups...Mine is somewhat plain compared to yours, but i have everything i need, yet, not quite everything i want. would looooove a good leg press. either way, here is mine all in one pic. left is my hyper, middle of course, my power rack (complete with dip bars) i just picked up this weekend (had an apex home gym...my what an upgrade), plates to the right of it...more than i can currently move, dumbbells to the right of those, and my air conditioner.
oh, and not pictured is my road bike, and my treadmill....sponsored by the city....miles and miles of asphalt and sidewalk. NO treadmill, IMO compares to the real deal.

I have the minimum. Everything out backyard. A squat rack with bench. (2) 45lb plates, and (2) 25lb. O, plus the barbell. It sucks, cause I'd have more **** to do if I were rich with equipment and or money.

I know, blurry picture is blurry. Just an overview of my garage gym area.
I've shown in other threads how I have some secure straps that I use as a suspension trainer, and various other makeshift equipment (hanging tire punching bag, etc).
I made some platforms that I taped some folded (to be two ply) gym mats to for a dead lift station, and do standing overhead presses off of a squat stand.
I also have a captain's chair and decline bench for sit ups, or glute-ham raises (although I can only do assisted raises currently).
Here is a better view of the main station, my Fitness Gear Ultimate Smith Machine. I believe I read that this was actually manufactured by Nautilus,
but regardless I got it used at a great price and it provides me with a rack, pulley, and leg press/calf raise (the only thing I really use the Smith for).
I'm also able to do hypers with a physio ball with my legs held in place by the Smith Machine.
I use two York barbells; one stainless with center knurling which I use in the rack for Squats and Bench press, and one OLD SCHOOL bar I bought and cleaned up from this guy (Peter),
which I use for overhead presses, deadlifts, and cleans.
I use mostly York plates, but I just recently obtained a bunch of Billards, and really like them because they are deep dish and have a great, milled appearance (even the smaller plates).()---() York Barbell Club #5 ()---()

My Basement Gym
I thought it appropriate that my second post on this forum be in this thread. I live in Pittsburgh, in a house with a traditionally Pittsburgh-esque basement - compartmentalized with low ceilings. Great house, challenging basement for building a gym. I have to bend my head down doing glute-ham raises or else I crack my head off of the ceiling. Regardless, I've managed to acquire what I think is a functional gym at a good price point. Thanks to you all here and the information attained (I've been lurking for a while), I've been buying and flipping for the past six months. Not only do I have my own space but have made some money doing it. So, thanks to you all here for your inspiration and the knowledge you lend. I hope you like what I've done with the place.
-60 degree leg press
-Parabody lat pulldown
-no name seated calf
-dumbbells 15-90 (60s and above are prostyle)
-a whole bunch of plates (York G2s for the 45s, CAP and TDS for the rest)
-GHR
-Keys Fitness squat rack
-Hoist incline/decline bench
-Icarian flat bench
-Body Solid FID "Power Center Combo"
-Body Solid leg curl/raise machine
-3 bars, 2 from CL and 1 from an auction and all without markings (I do know one is a dead lift bar)

My wife gave me permission last Jan (2011) to build my home gym but after 8 months of searching through used equipment I was only able to get a great deal on the York rubber DBs and Cybex racks. Knowing my year was up at my commercial gym shortly I just gave in and bought a new Powertec power rack and FID bench as well as an oly set and rubber plates (45x4, 35x2, 25x2, 10x4, 5x2). I have a very nice wife to have approved on the spend
Within the last 2 weeks I bought a used Landice treadmill and used Precor elliptical. I would have only bought the treadmill (which is what I prefer) but my wife insisted on a elliptical (which she prefers).
Still looking to add:
- hyperextension
- seated calf raise
- lat pulldown w/ low pulley (may just get the new one that attaches to the power rack)
- weight trees

Gym:
Finally upgraded my rack this weekend. My one car garage keeps getting tighter!
Old Setup:
Work in Progress:
New rack:
Got the spin bike and attempting to get rid of the Airdyne. Want a TDS front loading plate rack to save some space. I have the pulley system for the rack; but have no use for it until i finish this program so it is being stored til then.

I FINALLY found the last pieces to my home gym. I added stall mats and had to rearrange everything, which was exhausting. My space is only about 12'x8', but everything fits and nothing is cramped.
Resistance/Weight Lifting:
-Powertec P-PR Power Rack (older version)
-Hoist 4165 FID bench
-Ivanko colored, rubber-coated revolvers (4x45, 2x35, 2x25, 4x10, 4x5, 2x2.5)
-TSA Olympic plate rack
-Cemco Jade 255-lb weight set
-Ironmaster 75-lbs
-Powerblock classics, 50-lbs
-Fat Grips
-curl bar (I never use this)
Cardio:
-Everlast 100-lb heavy bag with stand
-Century B.O.B.
-CycleOps Fluid2 bike trainer and an 8x3 speed bike
-Shoes/barefoot for running outside

Well, I have been busy with life and doing this and that so haven't been on much, so I haven't had much new equipment save a few more Rubber Grip Plates and Lat Attachments, so ...Not much to add, just a few things I have gotten for my Home Gym in the last while.
MAGTONIC Whirley Indoor Group Cycle

I have been having Shin issues and usual Leg stuff (as i'm prone to them) so I have been forgoing cardio for a smaller approach, and since I was craving the usual intensity, I went and found an alternative Low-Joint Spin-Bike, two workouts in it so far. Kicked my ass in 10 mins at 105 calories, Lol. Good thing it was my cool down to Leg-Day (helps my DOMS when I do 10 mins of cardio afterward).
Couple more random Lat/Functional Trainer attachments, Curl Bars, Straight, Nylon Handles.. etc. Someday I wanna get a Body Solid Accessory Organizer.
For my past stuff, here's a link to my other previous posts: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showth...#post802731711
I also went and picked up some Bike Tie Downs for some Shoulder Pressing work. I mounted 2 pairs (4 straps) onto my Chin-Up bar and used carabiners to strap onto my IM Dumbbells. PITA changing weight, but I suck at getting them properly into position. I will snap a pick sometime... Think of it as a cross between Power Hooks idea and Sherm's.. minus the safety thing and velcro from the two, Lol.
Things I wanna still get are a Leg press/Hack Squat, even though I have no room, my Crunch Bench currently is in the Laundry Room.. But I will find a way.. Even if it has to go in a bedroom. All I need is the cash and a deal.Last edited by NoKittyNo; 05-02-2012 at 05:34 PM.

Oh really. I should go look that up - lol, mine is in no way perfect, but it sort of works. I usually sort of Drop set, so it's not so bad. I was thinking for weight changes, I could raise my Spotters on the PT Rack to like a higher hole, 15 or so, so when I changed I could manoeuvre them onto it to change the load. But it could be tricky and dangerous if unbalanced. I was considering Power Hook but, y'know, ideas come and you gotta try it out. Sometimes they work, and sometimes they take work.

Thanks for the link, KBKB, I can see you've surpassed your previous Reps since i've been checking in. Well deserved IMHO.
SO here's a pic reference from Extreme's (as given through link by you)
Mine is similar but I used straps.
Basically I mounted them to my Custom Fabricated Pull-Up Bar (from TexasStrength), and I used Bicycle Strap Down's from Canadian Tire here locally. Similar to these: http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/brows....jsp?locale=en
I decided to use 2 on each Dumbbell, or else they slant and for Shoulder Presses, if I release them I don't want them dangling and angling down toward my head and crushing me from both sides (lol). I also chose the ones I did because I could adjust the height easily through the buckle.
Here I tried that method we discussed a post or two up, by anchoring them on the Safeties and changing weight on them too.
The colours I chose were just for visual appeal.... Lol.
I only bought 5' ones, because that was all they had in-stock. Also, I tested it out so I had enough slack to Shoulder Press, and therefore not gain extra help or tautness through the movement, it's set so I have to shoulder them up a bit, but leave me the movement itself (less getting into position of course).Last edited by NoKittyNo; 05-02-2012 at 06:22 PM.

I like the colors!
One suggestion I can make is that you girth hitch nylon climbing runners (see pic below) to your dumbbell handles and then clip those to the straps. This does three things for you: 1) it keeps the hooks and other metal away from your hands. 2) It stops you from side loading the carabiner. 3) it prevents metal to metal contact between the carabiners and your dumbbell handles - if you avoid that metal to metal contact, you're less likely to scratch the handles or mess up the knurling.
Here's a photo of some climbing runners:
If you look at ExtremistPullup's photos, you'll see that he's attached the runners to his dumbbells somehow. I can't tell if they're girth hitched or not. (Let me know if you'd like to see a photo of a runner girth hitched to an Ironmaster DB handle.)▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #35

Great idea, KBKB. Originally I was looking for straps that didn't have any hooks (the packages weren't revealing so it was kinda a, "Oh surprise hooks!" kinda moment) but for now, like Extreme it's kind of an idea, and work in progress. I used this method last shoulder workout, and it was a very, very good workout, I mean - after the initial trial and error and set up phase tweaks. I had more energy to expend during the left than the set-up. When I first tested it out I didn't have the said-Bicycle ties, I had 2 old Bowflex Straps (used for the "squat bar" which I never sold when I sold it) and some chains. I like trying to make things and figure it out. I actually went and fashioned sort of a Dip Belt as well, with Ankle Straps intended for my old Resistance-Band set, I sewed them together and attaded some hooks and chain and it works for the most part. I'll post a pic of it sometime. Nothing revolutionary or replacable for manufacture stuff, but hey - we start somewhere.
PS> to Extreme - i've seen your latest vids on YouTube (i'm subscribed) you're progressing super well, even from a past tear. Very motivational.__

Oh I know of Power Hooks, they're actually in my EBay Shopping Cart, (lol) I like to throw stuff in carts and when I get the funds I decide whether or not to check out. But this was a temporary idea of, "Why the hell not" and since it's shoulder day this afternoon i'll be putting it to use again, (lol).

Sure - no problem - Lol, I try to "Like" all respected videos, people tend to view and forget so I try and make a note of it. I love your Gym Set up, especially your hanging pull-up bar, if I had the ceiling height and advantage i'd definitely get someone to rig up something similar for me. I think Pull-Up bars are just almost limitless in their uses, a great workout to from upper body to even abs.
Good luck on meeting your goals, you'll reach them no problem I am sure of it.__

Update
So I took the initial idea, but I ended up removing the original threads from the Straps (PITA for sure to do, 4 straps, 2 ends each), and then I had some round end links lying around, inserted them onto one end of each strap, and had it sewed shut (I had someone sew it for me, I lack that talent) with a Sewing Machine, then I took the other ends that had been threaded and with hooks - removed them and made a loop large enough so I could strap it through with the ring and buckle.
Basically story cut short, took straps, tinkered, and came out with a better result.
Still it's not perfect, but better for sure - no hooks in the way, and the way the straps loop around the IM Handles, it's tight and secure with no sag or anything. Since each strap has a buckle (it comes in two pieces) I can leave the top portion anchored along the Pull Up bar (as seen in picture) and when I want to, loop the other ends (that separate from the buckle, the formed loop part) around the IM Handles and simply reconnect the strap to the buckle and adjust said-length. Now, it would be a PITA to add, but I use my Safeties at height of 15 (PT Holes) and rest them on there, simply leaving slack to prep and attach.
In the long run it seems like alot of work, but if I prep it the day before or what not (As I do with most workouts, my Deadlift/Back day is set up downstairs ready for Saturday to cut time on set up and switching sets) it won't be a problem.
Just my idea and tinkering is all...__
