I started w/ that exact same Weider set-up. I kept scouring CL and eventually found an upgrade. I sold the Weider set-up and essentially upgraded to a commercial rack for free. Use the set-up you have and always keep an eye out for upgrade opportunities. You got a good start...especially for only $50.
You can see my current set-up in post 3864 (back one page).

Nicee! Your set up now is pretty much what i eventually want to have! Mirin the upgrade definitely. Im definitely excited for upgrades in the future. I was worried at first that this weider wouldn't be any good bc i couldn't really find any input on it on the forums. I'm glad it's still decent enough to use.

Thanks grumpytude. Yeah pumping4life, I didn't know anyone who had one either (didn't see any reviews up here on any TDS lat pulldowns) but I've been very happy with it. I acutally preferred a stand-alone, plate-loaded pulldown to one attached to a rack or one with a stack and this one looked to be the best out of the ones I was considering. It's sturdy and both the high pulley and low pulley operate very smoothly. Adjustable knee holder and seat. I was a bit apprehensive ordering from NYBB (given some people's bad experiences) but I had no problems at all. Everything came packaged well and was relatively easy to put together (with help from the wife).

Just finished the new garage gym.... This was a storage shed that is built on to the side of the garage. Was filled with old lumber and junk.

Excellent gym mate. Very good choice of kit that covers all bases. I've always liked the idea of having a vertical leg press. Whos it made by, and does it feel safe/solid under heavy loads?
Nice touch with the rug. I assume you cut it to be like THE octagon??My training log:

Its time for me to add to this shameless display of gym porn.
Here is my gym. I've named it 'My Tribute To Iron', and its been a long project, buts been well worth it. I built the outhouse with help from my father a few years ago.
The whole project took about a year to do through one of the coldest winters I've ever experienced, but its been worth it as I now have a place just for my training.
No distractions, no waiting for kit, no $hitty dance music.
Most of my training is done indoors but my main limitation is the ceiling height which prohibits any overhead lifting, or pullups on my power rack. For this I head outside, where I have a
pullup bar (see my avatar), and a small oly set (90kg) on a homemade fatbar.
Much of my equipment is homemade, or designed by me and built by an engineer. I like kit that is stupidly heavy, sort of an Iron fetish, so I often just buy the metal and have it made.
Sorry about the photograpghy, as there is not a lot of room to move in my gym (irony).
My power rack is made by a British company called Beaverfit. It was made to spec for me out of 80x80x4mm structural steel. I speced it with 2 inch, and 1 and a quarter inch
pullup bars.
These chain holders were made out of some homemade kettlebell handles that were bought off ebay. A bit of paint and they were perfect.
Arcteryx chalk bag sits nicely in the rack hole, but still alows use.
York plates make up the bulk of my iron, but I have a Nautilus set, and a Bodypower set.

My trap bar with plywood platform for deficit pulls.
Bar storage at the front of my rack. Because space is tight in my gym, it makes a lot of sense keeping the bars in the rack.
My deadlift bar stays in the rack all the time, set up with whatever weights I am using in my current cycle. I designed and had the pulling block built as it is used more as a multi purpose
stool, table, step up platform, but most importantly, it is the perfect height for me to squat parallel to.
This was my first project. It is made with 200x100x10mm U bar. I have estimated it to weigh more then 100kg. Like I said...its a fetish, but I'm working on it.
Some grip gear, including some of my gripper collection. My training log:
