Great that you have all this in your basement. You're liftin' some Hurculean weights, Forbidden. I'm just curious how long you've been lifting and what workout routine you're using.

Hey thanks man. I've been lifting for around 3 and a half years and spent the majority of it following some variation of 5/3/1 and programs similar.
drove two hours to pick up some 100 rubber weights for the cheapz, only to find out an associate sold them from under neath the owner of the store. He felt bad and sold me new cast iron weights for $.60 a lb. I bought 4 45 lb plates and a new bar. The bar seems to be well like among local guys and for the price I couldn't turn it down. I was looking to use it as a bench only bar. but anybody curious at looking Jesup Gym(can't post links or pics yet...Only 40 post) in Jesup Iowa has a nice american made 1500lb rated bar for $160 which seems pretty solid so far. I only have 3 bench sessions in on it, but so far so good. For the time being I am still using my "ghetto" box squat box. On a side note, if I would of spent more than 10 minutes throwing the said box together I probably would not be as desperate to get rid of the ugly thing. It does its job very well, but is ugly as hell.
The new rack is insanely nice but I don't think I'd ever give up a set of Ivanko dumbbells.
it was hard to do, but i pretty much stopped doing any sort of dumbbell work, so they just took up space. sold the ivankos to help pay for the sorinex. not a trade everyone would make, but i'm happy with it.

the thing next to the leg press is a sissy squat. works pretty well :-D. works the quads and my glute floor pad works the hamstrings really well. great bodyweight stuff to go along with the leg curl extension bench !
the sauna room upstairs only has the sauna, rower machine, back inversion thing, small stepper machine, and precor stretch trainer. instead of the treadmill i will just go run, and ride my bike instead of my recumbent.
tiger on the flat bench is cracking me up
probably been asked, but is that your front door where the bikes are hanging?
my gflex suspension trainer- Got it off bb.com on clearance for $19.99. A ton of strap length and very easy to adjust so you can can actually get a very amount o resistance. You can also put the handles up very high for things like inverted rows/ pullup motions.
pullup bar- Had to put it between two bodylastics door anchors because it won't fit inside the door I use. The door is also closed shut with a chair in front of it to keep anything from moving. I can also just use the anchors as handles for doing pullups. The pullup bar fucntions well as a bar attached to the suspensions trainer or resistance bands for doing ez bar like movements.
bodylastics resistance bands- Great bands that I can't say enough good things about. They can all clip on to one set of handles so they act a lot like adjustable dumbells. I think they go as high as 300 pounds when I have all the bands attached together.
backpack- filled with sandbags. Works as a weighted vest as well as a kettlebell for doing swings.
mat and foam roller: I'm a marathon runner so I try and get it band/ hamstring work in while I watch tv. It helps a lot haha
I also have means of putting my feet under chairs for doing things like crunches or glue ham raises, I have floor movers/towels for bodyweight hamstring curls or ab wheel style work and stools or chairs for dips. Obviously it's pretty hillarious but it helps me stay active and it provides everything I need right now
pretty awesome looking gym. love those benches - didn't even know they was such as thing as bench on linear bearings. what brand ghd is that? and....liked. good luck with the pt business.
Heres a link to the GHD I have - http://extremetrainingequipment.com/...per-basic.html . I dont have the split pad though. Its not a bad GHD, especially at that price, but I still want to upgrade it to a high end one with roller thigh pads.

they're a socal company right? i've seen them advertise their convertible racks on CL.
yeah they are on craigslist, i see there stuff all the time when i search orange county. their stuff looks pretty good, i am waiting on a reply back on if they will modify their technique tray and safety bar attachment to fit my DH
Personaly would rather go to a facility find it easier to get in the zone ?
Hmmm...tried it. Hated it. People are rude, unhygenic and monopolize the weights. At home, I don't have to wait, have no one around to distract me and can really focus. And a plus: no commute to the gym or stupid year long contract that is a pain to get out of. If I can do it with a power rack, bench, barbells, weights in a 2 bedroom apartment (with a wife and two cats no less), anyone can.

I have alot of ironmaster stuff and at some point will get their kettle bells but how come I feel like instead of me mastering the iron I feel like its mastering me? LOL :D.
I've wondered, from time to time, why you don't have a rack yet? You clearly have (or had) the space for one...
above a crawl space. worried about that dynamic load. with the smith i can stop the weight where i want too. once i have a solid concrete floor i'm gonna get a nice rack .

Have you come across any nice deal so far on racks? I know you have amassed all your stuff over some time so you must have seen a lot of deals.
Maybe buy it and just display it as storage for later? (If you can find an awesome deal.)
i've actually bought 2 racks. a promaxima one for 150 with a heavy duty promaxima weight tree, and that red one i posted. i resold the promaxima for 150 minus the weight tree, and sold the red one i got for $50 for 170 . almost got that parabody rack for 60 but the guy ended up being a douche. i really like the look of a legend rack and if they sell one with sumo spacing thats probably what i will get one day . i like the im2000 ironmaster smith for now.
since i have the barbell storage for the im2000, eventually i will get those spud spotting straps and probably use that with the ironmaster if i want to do free weight. but as it is half the exercises i do are free weight anyways with dumbbells and the curl bar .

There aren't many things I enjoy doing that aren't self destructive to my body or expensive. Meaning I LOVE to drink and I love to mess with computers! I realize the initial cost is high, but the money saved from gym membership fees and the time saved is going to be well worth it.
2 x 90lb. PowerBlock Dumbbells, 420lb. Black Cap plates, Olympic straight bar and Olympic super curl bar, Bodysolid Power rack & Bodysolid FID bench. Can't forget the laptop docking station. Lots of research and time invested to get the most essential equipment and the biggest bang for the buck.
Thanks BB.com for all the information in the forums! I'm a home gym lifer now.
