    Good song to analyze?

Does anyone know of a good song that has lot of meaning and is significant?

It is for a school assignment and I can' t think of a song at all.

If it helps, this is the assignment:

Every student will make an oral presentation of the lyrics to a song of their choice. Students are expected to explain the meaning of the song, its significance, as well as the artist's use of at least FIVE literary or poetic devices.

    Thanks in advance.

we had to do this in english 101 in high school. i chose Tracy Chapman's "Fast Car." it's a good song that can be interpreted without much difficulty and is easy to understand.

Well if you want to be unoriginal I guess, you could do John Lennon's "Imagine." Great song too haha

Or stairway to heaven by zeppelin.

Check songs by TOOL. I've never seen lyrics like theirs. They have all sorts of hidden messages and meanings and stuff, pretty cool.

Try looking at their song 'Aenima'.

This website is pretty cool for looking at song meanings. I've linked you to the tool songs.

    It might raise your grade...

I have always wondered what "Aqualung" by Jethro Tull was about. I could never quite figure it out (cancer?). If you could demystify that one, I'm sure you could find a few of literary devices.
    it is.

x2. Lateralus has a cool meaning and great lyrics too.

Check out some Pink Floyd too. The entire Animals album has an interesting meaning.

Also, check out Silhouette of a Life by 10 Years. Amazing lyrics, imo.

    Anything by Bob Dylan
    Also American Pie
    Rage Against The Machine songs
    Bob Marley songs
    Bruce Springsteen
    but mainly Dylan
"America touts itself as the land of the free, but the number one freedom that you and I have is the freedom to enter into a subservient role in the workplace. Once you exercise this freedom you've lost all control over what you do, what is produced, and how it is produced. And in the end, the product doesn't belong to you. The only way you can avoid bosses and jobs is if you don't care about making a living. Which leads to the second freedom: the freedom to starve."Tom Morello

If it helps, this is the assignment:

Every student will make an oral presentation of the lyrics to a song of their choice. Students are expected to explain the meaning of the song, its significance, as well as the artist's use of at least FIVE literary or poetic devices.

    Thanks in advance.

This is a good song about underage human trafficking.
