OT: Need Vacation Help
Hi All,
Some may know I was recently divorced, anyway it was final on Dec 18th. As such I just realized I had not been out of town (Toledo, OH) since August of 2006 and that was to help a family member move so I wouldn't consider that a vacation. The last vacation (a cruise) I took was with my (then) wife in Feb of 2006.
So I'm ready to head south, somewhere warm, for 4 or 5 days. I haven't vacationed alone since before I was married (some 12 years ago) so I'm not sure what some good options would be. I'm looking for some ideas and thoughts from you.
First of all, understand I moved here (in 1998) from Orange County California after living there for 8 years and moving there from Tucson, Arizona so I really miss warm weather, especially around this time of year BUT I don't want to go back there at this time.
I want to go somewhere warm. I want to go somewhere I can be around other people but won't feel weird because I'm alone, so like no couples places. I don't want a car, but I'd like to be able to walk to stuff.
I'm not looking to hookup but if that happens, so be it. It's not the goal. The goal is to leave the laptop, the cellphone, and the stress of day-to-day behind just for a couple days to recharge.
Cruise? Bahamas? South Florida? South Texas? Cancun? Cozumel?
Ideas/Suggestions? I'm looking to go somewhere between Feb 4th and Feb 14th.
Thanks all!

I am a bit partial to Arizona!
I consider this the best place on EARTH to live. The sunsets alone make it well worth the trip!

Well, it's a bit further afield, but I'd say it's time for you to fall off the map...just a few suggestions:
Phuket, Thailand
Vietnam
Honduras
Belize
Saipan (just went there, it's great)
Cuba
Dominican Republic
Cartagena, Colombia
Most of these are fairly well developed, but no one's going to give a rats ass if you're alone. There's plenty to do in these locations, so you can stay active...walk, hike, ride a bike, or just hang out on the beach. If you do think about coming to Asia, that period is Lunar New Year so things may be booked up.

Met quite a few people from all over, there.
Me like...
Yeah, do go on a vacation, take care of yourself, you need a change of scenery.

Check out singles cruises, or weeks at the resort. No couples to deal with LOL.
I don't know if anyone does this anymore but there used to be fitness cruises where they had cleaner eats and brought on more equipment so the whole week was like being at a huge fitness convention.

Cancun is good for a short vacation, not to difficult to get there, not to expensive and a good place to meet people.
