    dips and pullups supersets?

i read somewhere a while back that arnold would sometimes do supersets of dips and pullups to get an overall upper body pump.

has anyone else tried these, and if so, where did you add it to your workout?

and did you go continuously back and forth between them, or did you rest between each superset?

I think its a great technique to do every once in a while. It works virtually every major muscle group in the upper body and stimulates growth.

I do them for about 5 sets (pullups and then dips) with a minute rest in between sets. It really does pump up the upper body.

thanks for the reply. when you do them, do you still do your normal upper body routine, or do you cut back on the number of other excercises?

Yeh I remember Arnie training chest and back in the same workout. Maybe worth a try!

Don't forget Arnie was on the 'juice' and as result recovery wasn't an issue.

I think it is very nice for some assistance exercises to superset push/pull . E.g. dips/pull ups . OH press/pull ups.

For heavier stuff it doesnt work for me too well though (e.g. bench/rows). I just do them one exercise after another.

yeah, i've tried bench and row supersets, and they kinda sucked cuz the weights were so light, and i didn't feel much either. but i think pullups and dips might work better together, so it's definitely worth a try.

    thanks!

I change routines up every couple of months or so to keep things fresh. Super-setting such as dips/pull ups are a normal part of my rotation. Sometimes I supper-set weighted push ups with weighted chin ups for variety. Get the picture?
