Help with nutrition and early morning workout

Ok most you guys know being in the military we workout in the morning. Early 0630 to be exact. Dont have a choice of that matter. But i dont mind it, gets my day going! My main goal is Im trying to lose body fat.
My question is nutrition before and after? I get up around 0445, I used to eat some type of complex carb, Oatmeal or Oat Bar, but now I do it on a empty stomach. I've read a lot on the working out on the empty stomach and fueling yourself before a workout thing. I guess it depends what I do.
It varies from running (cardio only day) to strength training at gym(weights only). Somedays its a mix of both and body weight training. Best part is Im the one in charge so I can talior it to my needs. I have roughly 1 - 1 1/2 hrs to workout. Which is more than enough time to get a good workout. But I also only have the next 1 - 1 1/2hrs to shower change and eat and be back by 0900. Im just looking for any input or help to point me in the right direction with this. Thanks anything is appreciated.

Try to mix some oats, whey and maybe a banana.

I workout around 0500 and I sip WPI with Xtend before/during my workout and it's working well for me. Too much food makes me sick in the morning.

hmmm well i would suggest at least getting a protein shake into your system before your workout, but i know you said in your OP that you wanna get some complex carbs in there too. if you have access to a blender, maybe you could chuck a combination of some oats/whey/fruit/milk in there and giver a whirl. I find that i can down a liquid meal alot easier in the morning, before workouts, than a whole meal.

I'd vouch for getting something in your system pre-workout, and post ASAP. This is a personal preference as I notice a huge difference if I have fuel in the gym.

One thing you might want to do is prepare some oats for the week with a little protein powder in it, you can down that in about 5-10 minutes in the AM. Take a shaker with some whey / oats and fill it with water when your done and drink it on your way back.

Good luck

If you workout on a empty stomach it will increase the catabolic effect...weight training alone is catabolic.

so your muscle with burn away faster then your fat
