Breakfast. Too good to be true?

Ok so I'm a 21 year old student and I'm sick of the way I look in the mirror and I realise it's time for some serious change. My diet used to consist of no breakfast, I could never stomach it in the mornings but after a few weeks I forced my body to accept the food and now im looking forward to it when I'm going to bed! I really feel a great energy boost in the day now, however I'm worried that if I'm enjoying it too much then maybe it's too good to be true.

My breakfast is a cup of black coffee, 1 English muffin, 2 slices of turkey bacon and an egg.

Is this an acceptable breakfast or am I doing it all wrong?

I'm new to all this so please go easy, a push in the right direction would be appreciated.

You don't need to have breakfast if you don't want to. Net caloric intake over the course of 24 hours is all you should be worried about.

It sounds quite "acceptable", but what matters is overall daily nutrition not 1 meal.

I would eat twice as much of everything and replace the turkey bacon with real bacon.

    This, but triple the bacon.

English muffin, one egg, and a sliver of turkey bacon? WTF?

I cant skip breakfast, I wake up way too hungry. An egg sandwich does it for me:

    2 pieces toasted Ezekial Bread
    2-4 whole eggs
    scallion/red onion (pre-chopped)
3-4 pieces of bacon (real bacon not ghey bacon)
    1 slice cheese

    :-)

The macors on it are actually pretty good and holds me over for hours.

    You gotta eat more.

Judging by your username, maybe you should wake up a little earlier and blaze one right away.

Then you'll be hungry for breakfast in no time.

I thought that eating breakfast was key in triggering metabolism for the day. I felt that by skipping breakfast most of my life my body was clinging on to the fat in my evening meals

Only specific food for breakfast because I find certain things hard to stomach in the mornings. What's fkd up about having an idea of the foods you are eating for the week, I do a weekly shopping lol

You though wrong. Increasing your metabolism though meal frequency and timing is a myth.

That sounds GREAT lol. I don't know why I went for turkey bacon I guess there's a lot of misinformation out there regarding what's good and bad foods.

Read the stickies. Your food choices and timing is irrelevant, and as J mentioned, 24 hour caloric balance is key, deficit will result in weight loss, surplus will result in weight gain.

For me, "breakfast" is usually around 600-800 calories (this morning, 4 whole eggs + about 1 cup of black beans, mixed with a special sauce mixture (srirachi + ketchup + bbq sauce + paprika/cumin/taco seasonings)). I don't think I could start the day on any more or any less.

It aggravates me that this girl I'm jonesing for talks about how her breakfast is a single slice of bread with one egg because she is trying to lose weight (even though she is probably barely breaking 110 anyhow). One meal doesn't make or break you.

I can't get through the day without breakfast, but it's simply a matter of convenience.
Rather eat large in the AM and not dick around with extended lunch breaks at work.

    yo 420 -

No one should comment on what you should eat without knowing your stats.

Why would someone recommend you double up on eggs and bacon? For all I know, you're a 12 year old girl? (example - not insulting).

get your base line... cals needed. then track what you eat.

do this for a week - dont change anything. then come back and you will have useful info.

For your own sake, read the stickies. Also, if someone just randomly tells you how and when to eat without knowing your situtaion/stats/goals - bogus advice.

    Peace,
    THC_LOVER in the house.
