Kellogs Special K vs Quaker Oats

Based on the nutrition facts it would seem that Special K is better. Could someone explain why Oats would still be better (I am sure oats is better, but what makes it better?)?

Special K = more fiber & more protein

Oats is a natural food so you body reacts to it better. Less preservatives and it's more wholesome in the sense that there aren't so many filler things like synthetic vitamins.

K, first off you're comparing oatmeal to the low carb/high protein Special K, not their normal stuff. There's a world of difference.

Second, Pat's correct - Oats are pretty much all natural, while any kind of cereal is going to be refined. Now, that doesn't necessarily make the cereal bad, but still.

Oh, you also failed to mention that Oats are A LOT cheaper. That's quite a big advantage, isn't it? Wanna get real fancy? Cook a serving of oats with some water in the microwave for 90 seconds. Take it out and mix 1/4 c. milk and a scoop of protein powder in with the oatmeal. You are then getting something that is far superior so the cereal in almost every way, and it's probably STILL cheaper per serving!

Oats are the better choice based upon their being a whole grain versus processed soy (regular SK uses more wheat). And beware, the low-carb Special K gives me the screaming poops if I eat more than 1 bowl a day (must be all the soy)...
