When bulking, do carbs from vegetables count??
i just went to calorieking.com, looked at carrots and my jaw dropped
It says that a medium carrot has about 15g of carbs and around 4g of fiber... if I'm thinking of those long carrots they sell in bags at the grocery store, that's insane.... those things can be eaten in a few bites and aren't filling at all, I could easily have about 3 after some meals and that's an extra 45g of carbs and around 12-15g of fiber.... are carbs from vegetables just as good?

Unless you are doing some carb restricted diet such as the anabolic diet, all carbs count even from vegetables. These are generally a low glycemic carb which are very good but directly post workout you want something with a high glycemic index. Vegetables are a must on any diet especially since they are a great source of fibre. If you love them that much, I would include them in every meal (except immediately post workout) which is what we healthy people should be doing anyways.

vegetables can add ****loads of carbs and calories to your diet if you eat a lot. Id advise everyone to count them. I dont usually count lettuce/cucumber, but I probably should. I eat enough of them to make a difference. All other fruit and veg I allways count - veg easily add several 100 calories in a meal

If any of you can put away any of those in a single meal, I'd sure not like to follow you to the restroom.
to put it shortly, I don't count the carbs in vegetables (I mostly eat the leafy greens, which are really sparse on carbs), and they are really insignificant to anyone eating ~2000 calories a day.Last edited by PoopEater; 12-12-2005 at 12:44 PM.

thats why i said i DONT count lettuce and cucumber
onions, carrots, sprouts,brocolli - all about 42cals/100g
2-300g of those is absolutely nothing - id love to be able to eat more veg, but i have to limit even that, both due to calorie content and mainly storage and cost.
I just checked and today so far ive eaten 285 cals from veg, excluding cucumber and lettuce, so more like 330+. Yesterday I ate 430 from veg that I count.
Both very significant chunks of my total calorie intake.5'11", 187lbs, 19 y/o
