Oranges
Just wondering why I rarely see oranges or any other citrus fruits in bodybuilding diets. Is there any reason?

People think the carbs in fruit magically make them fat, while carbs from oats and brown rice don't.

Oranges are an excellent addition to any diet.

fructose is scary to some people, but i'd rather not get all of my nutrients in pill form and keep a balanced diet. oranges are fantastic, mandarin oranges are hella cheap and very portable/clean. good source of potassium and obviously vitamin c

I think more people prefer bananas or berry fruits in bodybuilding, but pretty much any fruit is good.

theyre good for cutting because since theyre so juicy they take up a lot of room in the stomach but theyre not very good for bulking IMO.

Because people think oranges don't offer as much nutrient wise when compared to kiwi's and berries etc. I also prefer to eat something and know that I've eaten it. So I would choose a crunchy apple or pear over an orange.

I don't eat them much because they are insanely expensive here - usually ~ $3/lb.
I actually had 1/2 an orange on my salad last night because I'd bought some on special. Damn good!
There are so many foods out there and most of the diets you see posted are either from inexperienced people looking for a program to follow or someone doing something very specific to meet a specific goal.
People who vary their diet quiet a bit during the week, but still stay relatively close to their calories and marcos are unlikely to post all the food and food combinations they consume over a week because it's just too tedious.
So you never see oranges in a 'BBing diet'. For instance, if I did try to post my 'usual' diet it would not have oranges or apples in it. But I still go though 2-3 apples/week - just add them in when I feel like it. Like the orange on the salad. It not like I planned to have it. i was just making up a salad, saw the orange and thought Hmm, I fancy some of that on my salad today.
Personally I also use a lot of limes and occasionally lemons for sauces, particularly with fish.

Fruit sometimes gets a bad rep, you never see a fat person and go oh I bet they're eating too much fruit, fruit ain't never made no one fat.

Would an Orange be a ideal source of fructose post workout(to refill liver Glycogen)??
I'm asking because I am trying to figure out a decent post workout formula and I already have oats with my Isolate+ Milk and many people are saying a small source of fructose is a good addition.I also really love oranges .

I was originally under the impression that oranges would be good for post work out too, but apparently they're only good for PWO cardio as Fructose is best to refill liver Glycogen. For lifting it's better to drink/eat something with more Dextrose(Glucose) to refill muscle glycogen (smarties are apparently a good source!?)
I think it's just anal, so I eat my orange PWO for both cardio and lifting.

Eating fresh whole oranges will not cause obesity.

You have no idea how many times I have told this to people. I am continuously dumbfounded by how many people are afraid of fruit.
I keep it in my cutting diet until the end. I prefer apples, berries, and grapefruit, but I'll eat any fruit. Plus it keeps my sweet tooth under control.
