Would you rather have a sugar-alternative, or healthy sugar?

I think it's an AWESOME alternative for oats in shakes. Don't get me wrong, I lvoe my oats, but throwing in 50 g's of this and a scoop of whey, and getting an awesome MRP, is just too cool

I'll be getting some of it to mess with in the next couple of days, so I'll post back with how it behaves. From what I understand, though, it behaves exactly like sugar for cooking, baking, melting it, whatever, but I've been a baker and a chef in my time, so we'll see how it fares.
As far as substitutions, it will work great in a bunch of places, but things like oats shouldn't be ignored since fiber is important for more than just gastric emptying. Plus a big bowl of sugar doesn't taste quite as good as oats to me.
If I can get real-tasting, low GI sweet tea out of this, that will be enough for me.

Here we go "the creatine of carbohydrates". LOL
Rep system sucks, we all agree, the only ones who really use it are idiots who think it makes a difference

I know. Overhype. Man if Muscletech had something like this in their ad, people on this board would go nuts about it and kill them.

Well, there's the cholesterol-lowering effect of soluble fiber and blood-glucose stabilization and all the things that trickle down from that (triglycerides, insulin sensitivity, blah blah), but when I wrote that I was mainly thinking about regular, healthy bowel movements. Anyone who has gone on a low-carb diet for very long without supplementing fiber knows how important fiber is in that regard.

Not so expensive really...50 grams in the morning, 50 grams pre-workout (I think that's the most anyone could use), and it's 30 bucks a month...MSRP

the only difference is that this product isn't a scam.
this stuff has a GI under 20, which is much lower than oats. i plan on getting some of this stuff to use in my meal replacement shakes. i'll also get some NOW inulin for fiber.

Interesting product. Although I wish the catalog listing provided more science and less marketing. Or at least a link to the science.
Yeah, some of the tag phrases are ridiculous. "Creatine of carbohydrates" was a good one. I really liked - "almost like having salad, but with the taste of sugar." So I guess the next time I'm out to dinner and the server asks "what type of dressing do I want on my salad?", I'll just tell him to "skip it" and "bring me 2 tablespoons of SuperCarb!" Lastly, I don't need them to tell me that I can mix a sugar-substitute and a flavor packet to make Kool-Aid. I'm no rocket scientist, but I could figure this one out by myself.
All joking aside, if the product is as they claim (the ultra-low GI), it could be somewhat revolutionary to food industry, if marketed correctly. I mean, it would instantaneously become my sugar-sub of choice, pending studies for sides. I know that the uses for PWO are what's primarily on everyone's mind, but the additional uses for being a super healthly sugar-sub are what I'd be most excited for. Having a sweet tooth could actually become a decent thing.
Additionally, the price point of SuperCarb is less than half than that of Splenda. After I did the math, that really caught my eye. I will definately give it a shot early in the new year pending a little more research. I could make oatmeal cookies with soy flour and whey protein powder that would be an incredibly nutritional and power-packed great tasting snack. If I were them, I would think big, and try to market it to the general population instead of just a segmented part. I'm sure they'll give it a go. This product could easily become a rising star and eventually a cash cow. But from the looks of this one listing, I think they need to work on the marketing for this to facilitate. They definately have my attention though.
Looks like I'll be spending some time on the Advant Labs forum.
