    reading your HR on machines

are the heart rate monitor readings on the cardio machines accurate?

when i wear my HR monitor on the treadmill i see a different reading than the one on my watch. also, are the HR counts on cardio machines (i.,e elliptical) where you hold the heart sensors in your hands accurate?

I dont think the ones on the treadmill are not accurate at all.I think the ones you wear are good and if it is a little off its ok just as long as thats the only one you go buy.I find them to be a usefull tool.

I find if you are using a Polar HR monitor and the treadmill/elliptical is Polar compatible, then the watch and machine will be exactly the same. Otherwise, I wouldn't trust it. Take your pulse instead

The problem with the machine reading is if you are wearing a HR monitor is that it has to be sensitive enough to pick up your HR monitor therefore they tend to be a little too sensitive. If the person exercising next to you is also wearing a monitor it can pick their HR as well and send out a false reading

I would trust your watch over the machine reading any day.
