    WNBF Qualifier

Natural Iowa/Central Midwest Body Building/Figure & Xtreme Fit Championships
    NANBF Figure

    Des Moines, IA

    check out the website: www.nanbf.org

The show is big...by my unofficial estimation, there are a solid 20-30 figure girls each year, maybe more. Also, its a pro-qualifier.

its awesome...it was my first show ever. It averages no less than 80 people a year...last year was closer to 100. Lots of fun, great promoters, great time..check it out!

Thanks definately will look into it! Would you say the organization is comparable to NPC (besides the biggest fact that its natural)? The only reason I ask is because that is the only organization I have competed in so I have nothing else to compare it to. Thanks in advance

I second that...its much better than the NPC. There is not nearly the controversy at the natural shows that there tends to be at the untested shows. In my experience, the best body wins. period. Drug free is the way to be. Also, the shows are promoted well, sponsored well, organized well and offer a really fun atmosphere. You can't beat it.

Worth noting however is that you have to be free of all banned substances for 7 years prior to competition...so things you may or may have not done in the past could effect your eligibility.

Thanks guys...one more question though...I know that they test for seven years prior but what ALL do they test? Obviously steriods and growth hormones...but what if you took ephedra when it was legal? What are recreational drugs? Thanks in advance

ephedra is fine, as long as you took it when it was legal. As far as recreational drugs, I don't think they test for thoseq

not sure, you'd have to email the heads of the orgs. But I know INBF bans all "ephedra & ephedra derivatives"

the rule the NANBF, INBF and others WANT the athletes to adhere to is basically this: if there is any doubt, dont use it.

That said, here is a list from the NANBF website. It will be the same in the INBF, as both are affiliates of the WNBF. Enjoy.

    Sean

The following substances and related compounds are banned by the North American Natural Bodybuilding Federation and their use constitutes grounds for dismissal from NANBF competitions and suspension from membership in the organization.

ANABOLIC STEROIDS including but not limited to bolasterone, boldenone, chloroxomesterone (dehydrochlormethyltesterone), clostebol, floxymesterone, mesterolone, methandienone (methandrostenolone), methanolone, methyl testosterone, nandrolone, norethandrolone, oxandrolone, oxymetholone, stanozolol, testerone, and all other related compounds.

    TESTOSTERONE (injections, patches, gels).

TESTOSTERONE/EPITESTOSTERONE RATIO The T/E ratio is used to measure the presence of exogenous testosterone, or illicit elevation of testosterone levels. Any T/E ratio in excess of 6:1 is ruled as positive.

GROWTH HORMONES (PHARMACEUTICAL HGH, HCG and any other related compound).

DIURETICS Any and all prescription weight-loss substances and diuretics, used for bodybuilding purposes, even when physician-prescribed, are banned. OTC Diuretics cannot be used seven days prior to the current event.

    PSYCHOMOTOR STIMULANTS

EPHEDRINE will be banned as of July 1, 2004. Any use on or after July 1, 2004 will constitute cause for being ineligible to compete for seven years just as with all other banned substances.

MUSCLE IMPLANTS OF ANY KIND BREAST IMPLANTS can cause your score to be counted down due to the distraction it can create from the actual pectoral muscle.

CHEMICALS/DRUGS FOR THE PURPOSE OF DECEIVING OR PASSING THE POLYGRAPH TEST (WARNING: DO NOT use alcohol or any relaxation type drugs prior to taking your polygraph.)

    CLENBUTEROL AND GHB

ANY ILLEGAL OR ILLICIT BODYBUILDING DRUG OR SUBSTANCE

ANY FDA BANNED SUBSTANCE EXCEPT IF OTHERWISE INDICATED

ANY IOC BANNED SUBSTANCE EXCEPT IF OTHERWISE INDICATED

HORMONES AND ALL PRECURSORS & METABOLITES, DERIVATIVES AND RELATED COMPOUNDS The use of any hormone (injectable, oral, sublingual or otherwise) for bodybuilding purposes – including insulin – is strictly prohibited. All hormonal precursors (DHEA, androstenedione, 19-norandrostenedione, androstenediol, 5-AD, 7-KetoDHEA, androsteneTRIONE, etc.) are banned effective January 1, 2000. Prescription Thyroid hormone medication when used for bodybuilding purposes is banned. Pro-Steroids (1-Test), etc. are banned effective January 1, 2000. The presence of any banned substance in the urine (i.e., nandrolone, etc.), no matter how it arrived there, is ruled as a positive (failure).

Note: The following IOC banned hormonal products/substances will be banned by the NANBF as of January 1, 2000: DHEA, androstenedione, norandrostenedione, and all other hormone precursors. If used after 01-01-00, the athlete will have a one year waiting period where they will not be eligible to compete. The one year waiting period is from the date of last use. This allowable waiting period will be in effect until 01-01-06, where thereafter, no competitor will be allowed a waiting period, but will be banned for seven years just as with all other banned substances.
