Exactly, I took two weeks off because I spilled bacon greese down my forearm (dont ask) and just went back last week to do legs and they were sore for about 6 days.

Thats normal. I rarely feel a good leg workout the next day but 2 days later and I cant walk down a flight of stairs.

Jeez that sounds like a serious medical problem to me, you are only sore two days after a workout and not one day? See a doctor you could be about to blow your porch light.

Look up DOMS which stands for delayed onset muscle soreness. You can find a lot of good info. Just type it in google or yahoo.

No matter how much experience I get training my legs (with particular focus on my hams and posterior chain), every time I do some form of stiff-leg deadlift variety (eg. BB SLDL, DB RDL etc.) my ham get very sore and tight for almost a week!

yeah it's pretty interesting stuff, lots of good info out there about it. One thing that I find interesting is that there have been a few studies showing a moderate to severe case of doms can actually impair strength for up to 30 days.

That would only be in extreme cases right ?? Surely ... That's crazy though, I wonder what one's workout might entail to get to that stage, haha.

one of the studies was printed in the bood "essentials of strength and conditioning" and in an issue of "journal of athletic training" I think basically it said strength is generally impaired from doms 7-10 days but can last up to 30.

Ah yeah, I'm with ya. So for instance, if you experience DOMS regularly in your legs, then you wouldn't want to train them again for ~7days anyway. Even though they "feel" fine, they might not be ..... Interesting stuff there, something to look into

In order for muscles to grow they are broken down by weights training and then they r
Repair and grow back bigger and stronger

The pain you experience 2 to 3 days later is called doms
    Delayed
    Onset
    Muscle
    Soreness

It's just an unfortunate fact of weights training

Yes, this is very normal. The things you can do to decrease soreness time however, involve daily cardio(jogging helps force blood into legs and works different muscle fibers), Mild stretching, Plenty of calories(more than you might think), and warm shower going on legs directly also helps blood flow. All these things in my experience will knock the soreness back a day or 2.
