FIFA and UEFA already said they will change the way the ranking is made. It is not "accurate", they say. I agree with that. How many of those teams could beat Portugal? I mean, Portugal was clearly better than Spain, England and Holland in the Euro2004. Not to mention Germany.
Brazil is number 1, in my opinion. Argentina has a great team too, Mexico has been playing pretty well. Italy cannot be forgotten. However, Spain, England, Germany and France do not reach the level of Holland, Portugal or the Check Republic, at this time.

That's a good advantage for Germany, but sometimes not even a great team can win such competition when it occurs in its own country.
For example, Portugal was clearly the best team in the Euro2004. They defeated Spain, England and Holland. Yet, they lost twice against Greece, who did nothing but defend (against Portugal, France and the Check Republic).
Check Republic was the second best team, but Greece defeated them too. I never saw a team as lucky as Greece in a competition like this.

Don't knock Australia yet. They are awesome players and just need to play as a team for a while. Uraguay are 18th in the world and have won the world cup twice! They often beat Brazil and Argentina! We owned them in that second leg, a performance like that against a European nation will see 3-4 goals in the back of the net, because Uraguay are great defenders and the team plays as a team all the time where as we don't. Knocking off some better teams is not unrealistic.
