Good weight training is good weight training. With a reasonable resistance program in place and it doesn't matter if it's a 5x5 style program or something else well designed, gaining muscle or losing fat takes place in the kitchen. Obviously it's easier to get stronger if you allow your weight to drift up. For a lot of people here, most of whom I get the feeling are fairly novice and very far from their strength potential despite the fact that they might be plateaued or crawling along currently, they might find themselves still getting significantly stronger while dropping bodyfat.

So whats a good plan for this?
Looked at a few such as Ripped Rugged And Dense, and then theres this workout http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/mahler62.htm
Workout 1 A1 Bench A2 Rows B1 Squat B2 Deadlift
Workout 2 A1 Standing PRess A2 Pullup (may have to sub rows) B1 Squat B2 Deadlift
I would probably break it down like
day 1 hiit
day 2 workout 1
day 3 hiit
day 4 rest
day 5 workout 2
day 6 hiit
day 7 light cardio walking on incline
Bu Im still looking for a good routine so let me know. Oh I should mention this is for a beginner who is 192 pounds 6'1 20% bf age 19. He is anything but a hardgainer. current goals are to drop bodyfat then start to bulk clean later on.
