LOL @ your diet in your sig -
anyway, my opinion is that if you eat enough to support your run with friends (ie: some good carbs) your body should utilize that for fuel and spare your muscle. Your body is utilizing SOMETHING for fuel whether you weight train or run. To me the trick is finding the balance suitable for me, the balance that will use carbs/fat for fuel and spare my muscle as much as possible. We have to learn through trial and error what works for us personally.20+, you better ask somebody....

I've heard a few people say that your body can burn up to 31 calories a day per pound of fat you have so if you have 10 pounds of fat, it means your body will take up to 310 day calories burned a day from fat. I honestly don't know if this is true or not. Just what I've heard other people say and I could see something like this being in effect whether those are the correct numbers or not, I honestly don't know.

Sprints are better for you than long sustained runs. But, if you go running, fuel yourself with some good carbs. Maybe have some fruit beforehand, and drink some gatorade during or something.
Muscles will go to stores of carbs first, after a long duration of running, muscle will begin to be broken down.
