    Why work out shoulders & legs on same day?

    i have a question, Whats the point of working out shoulders & legs on the same day? i understand why chest and tris & back and bi's can be easly worked out togther it just seems like alot of people do shoulders and legs which i dont understand..someone please explain

    two totally different muscle groups, maybe they dont have time to workout shoulders one day and legs another so they do them both the same day. When i'm done legs(squating) the only thin i want to do is lay down!

    it just a different way of grouping mucles together but like said before legs can be quite taxing, i usually do shoulders/tri together

    yeah i did chest and tri's, then started doing shoulders/tri's and now im going back to chest and tri's...personally i like doing chest and tri's better

    I do Legs and Shoulders together. If for no other reason than convenience. This way I can keep a 3 day split instead of a 4 or 5 day split.

    There's no set reason as to why unlike chest and triceps. People do it to fit into their schedule.

    I think when it comes down to it, it's all personal preference. I don't think one split is more beneficial than another. Although personally, if I was doing a bodypart split and only worked each group once a week, I wouldn't pair chest/tri's or shoulders/tri's together. I would work them separately so that my tri's would get hit twice in the same week with indirect stimulation. But then again, that is just simply my personal preference.

    haha id be in the gym for atleast 4 hours if i did a complete work out for chest/shoulders/tris...no thanks..the question im asking is about legs and shoulders on the same day.

    Most people do it to fit in 6 days/a week routine, chest/tri-back/bi-shoulders/legs-rest

    Why not? People manage full body routines, just make sure you pound out the legs first.

    shoulders/tri's

    Just my thoughts on doing triceps with shoulders.
    Triceps assist in other workouts so why not work triceps with shoulders seeing as they assist in chest workouts etc.and not do much in shoulder workouts

    I personally work legs/glutes by themselves twice a week. Legs are the largest muscle group and can handle twice a week. In facts I feel they need two per week. I honestly don't see how anybody can continue a workout after leg day. A awesome leg is exhausting. I would think you'd be cheating other body parts by working them after an exhausting leg day. Just my opinion though

    Back in the day....my personal favorite 3 day split was:


    chest/back
    legs
    shoulders/arms
    off

    as I got smarter, learning that more recovery time meant heavier weights and bigger muscles....I switched to this:

    chest/back/shoulders
    off
    legs/arms
    off
    repeat


    I know that Arnold at one time or another had an article about this split:

    chest/back
    legs/shoulders
    arms
    off


    I guess he was focusing on his arms at the time. I did it, but my shoulders weren't recovered after chest day....and tris never really got a break.
