Show me a picture of a well defined muscular 4 pack.
Come on.
Anyone can have a 6pack if you work for it.

lol at "lower abs". this is the stupidest thread i have read all day. Your entire set of abs are being worked during a decline weighted sit up. when you do hanging leg raises, you're working your hip flexors. "But I feel it in my lower abs!" you might say. Well, the Iliopsoas, which is the primary muscle used in the hip flexion, lies at the bottom of your abs, making it feel like your "lower abs" are being worked.
having massive hip flexors serves no purpose but ruin your proportions. Which is why I lol at everyone doing hanging leg raises"You can't lift like an ogre and eat like a princess just so you can maintain your girlish figure."

ok so heres the dillemma i've got. theres people/bodybuilders, who i think we can all be pretty sure train abs enough for them to show, such as ronnie coleman-
http://www.kulturistika.com/gallery/1115026845_194.jpg
so that would kinda prove the genetics arguement. and im not gunna take the time to find before and after pictures of someone who had a 6 or 4, and built up to a 6 or an 8. either way, heres what i happen to be "stuck with"-
any opinions?

abs are purely genetic the retctus abdominalas are two muscles divided by the linea alba. The number of horizontal cross sections you have is caused by a tendons that run across it and adjoin near your ribs. The number you have is genetic, you can't train to create tendons, just as you can't add muscle fibers.

different abs on women
So ive noticed that there are so many different types of abs.
some women have the blocked abs and others have ones that are just flat and kind of long if that makes sense
and others its like theres no lines seperating one ab from another
i see all these different types on all different types of women
is there a way to get your desired type
of is it kind of genetic on how they develop.
i hope all this makes sense lol

. From my experience, yes it is possible. I don't know how many abs I have, but I've gained an extra set towards the top, and another in the middlish bottom. They need a lot more work, I never work them, but I have at least an 8 pack from belly button up. I've always been around 10-13% body fat. Try this though. Expand your rib cage, and feel your abs slide down your ribs, and in the modified position do the exercise.
