i'm thinking of buying an olympic weight set and a power rack.
i have a question hopefully one of you guys can help me with regarding the length of an olympic bar. i know the standard is 7'. however, on this site:
http://www.fitness-superstore.co.uk/...8C61B5CE5.html
they have 5' and 6' models too. which should i get and whats the advantages of them? i know the obvious is that the 7' can handle more weight but i doubt i'll be pushing the 5' to the max anytime soon as i've only recently started lifting. i have a standard 5' bar i've been using which i'm quite comfortable with so maybe i should just get a 5' olympic bar too, no?
cheers in advance for any help

Get the 7' bar for when you finally do go up in weight so you dont have to replace a 5' or 6' bar. Also, the 7' standard bar weighs more, so your bench is "official". lol
Height - 5'9"
Wt- 177
Bench - 250
Squat- 330
40 yd. - 4.64

My bar is 6 feet, but only the sleeves are shorter so it fits on any power rack.
The only reason I got a 6 feet was because of space constraints.
Only get something smaller if there is a specific reason for it, if not I also highly recommend a 7 foot Olympic bar.
Trust me in 6 to 12 months, you will be glad you spent the extra on a good barRon
