Is it fine if I add 5 or 10 pounds to my bench press every few weeks? I am a beginner, so I'm still experiencing newbie gains.

Basically listen to your body, if you feel that you can go up in weight, do it (porviding you can do the regular weight at least 5 times). Its kind of like a BBer's intuition. lol
Height - 5'9"
Wt- 177
Bench - 250
Squat- 330
40 yd. - 4.64
Eye of the tiger, man, the edge!! - Apollo Creed (Rocky 3)
Im the greatest, somethin like Ali in his prime

Well, this question doesnt have much relevence cause none of these people are YOU. Everyone who works out has a different build and different body function. You need to find the weight thats right for you. So basically, get a buddy to go to the gym with you. Get on the bench and have your buddy add and take away weight until you find a weight that you can do 8-10 reps your first set before failing. Then, start with that weight, and as the weeks go by and you get stronger, add weight.

i did the same thing of adding weight to my workout almost every week or 2 weeks i eventually started to work out with 80-90% of my max for 4 sets of 4. With the training from my coach i have gotten good gains i was benching 230 in september and 2 weeks ago i maxed at 270 and i recently maxed at 280. It really depends on what your going for and also how you eat and what your body can handle on how much you can add on every week or few weeks. (%)
