im in the same dillemna RM. if you really want to drink, because i do too, than i'd maybe skip one of the workouts in your week and add it into another one later. i try to not drink all break and i've been good for the past 2 weeks with my training and diet and everything to i think i deserve a little party time to get hammered.

Drink and then if you are physically able lol the next day. Go to the gym. When you wake up the next morning make sure you have a big breakfast full of protein, eggs, steak etc + a protein shake.
I think the best way of balancing all that is getting back into routine as quick as you can.
I'll be drinking tonight as well, so you're not the only one. But I plan to give up for at least 2 months to cut up and then leave it as 2-3 drinks as a lifestyle change. Some people can drink and get back into it, but not me I'm hopeless I hit Mickey D's up first thing and close the joint.I hated every minute of training, but I said suffer now...and live the rest of your life a champion. - Muhammad Ali

Have a few if you feel you need to but if you care about your development you'll refrain from the calories and hangover.
Champions are not born. They are built.
You wondered if all the pain and sacrifice is worth it...now you know.
Gold medals aren't made of gold. Not really. They're made of sweat, dedication, and a hard to find alloy called guts.

wow
you guys can be such killjoys
Its New Years, get fken hammered if you want to. I sure as hell am. Am I any less dedicated to my goals? No. I havent been drunk in just over a month (which is huge for me, I used to get wasted every weekend over a 2 year period).
Just work extra hard when you do get back into the gym.
And if your hungover just restructure your week so you dont have to lift the day your hung over. easyOfficial Rugby training thread: http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=107034291

Go monday wed, thurs fri, or maybe mon, wed, fri sat. Depends on your split and what you think you can handle.
Drinking isn't a problem to lifting as long as you keep a leesh on it. If this is a once a year drink yourself under the table then go for it. If this is a case of "well I usually only drink this much on the weekends but because it's NYE I'm going to do it mid week" then you have a problem in terms of your training.
My gym will be closed on Tuesday, so I'll be exchanging my rest day from friday to tues, no problem. I'll be drinking, but I won't miss anything in training that I wouldn't be missing anyway. Plan your drinking around your training, not the other way around.

get black out drunk and have fun. Unless you are a pro it doesn't matter if you miss a workout and just make sure you chug some water before you go to bed and have a small meal and you might not even get hung over. I drink usually about 5 nights a week real hard and am in a lot better shape than 95% of the population, could I be better if I didnt drink yes, but I am young and would rather have fun.

ok... in my opinion i say "to each his own" but if your serious you wont get drunk... me personally, i have a race on the morning of the 1st... its only a 5k... but i am serious about it... so i am limiting my drinks... and they are limited to a few in the afternoon... and then ill sober up all night, after midnight i will go to sleep, and my race is around 8am or so... then ill race it and hopefully place... but you need constraint in life... but like i said... to each his own. its up to you... but if your serious youll know what you have to do.

thats why i say, to each his own... i cannot dictate what others will do, nor will i try... its whatever that person decides to do... depending on their own level of commitment, and everyones will be different... so i agree. Thanks for the comment.

Sleazenille no offense but how you are relating to him is completely different. You have an actual event to go to where as he is just wondering how big of a deal getting ****tarded drunk tonight will affect him long term which is pretty much insignificant. I understand what you are saying but if you aren't doing any type of competition soon then having fun with all your friends one night isn't a big deal.
