    Too much sugar = Diabetes?

First off, I dont have diabetes.

Now my question. I got my wisdom teeth removed on Monday. Since then, today is Wednesday, Ive been eating nothing but sugar basically. Ice cream shakes, yogurts, pudding, and a couple smoothies. Im worried that Im going to get diabetes. Ok, I probably sound like a complete idiot but its not something I want to have to live with, no offense to anyone! Monday and Tuesday were heavy days of sugar eating and only laying in bed watching movies and such trying to heal. Today, I ate two yogurts in the morning and am going to begin eating real food(i.e. pancakes, etc). Am I ok? Will this give my diabetes? Thanks!

Sugar does not cause diabetes. Your body is built to process it.

Sugar however, MAY cause weight gain/obesity, which does lead to diabetes.

There is some evidence that Insulin 'spikes' over a long period of time predispose a person to type 2 diabetes, where the body becomes less responsive to insulin.

However, this is a long-term effect exacerbated by poor lifestyle (overweight, no exercise, smoking etc) as well.

What you have been 'eating' for the last few days isn't actually that much of a problem from a GI (Glycaemic index) standpoint - particularly trhe Yoghurt.

    Don't sweat it.
