Tattoos in competition
I tried searching for the answer to this but didnt turn up any good info. So heres my question, If someone is heavily tattooed is there any way they can compete or is there any competitions specifically designed for tattooed competitors?

How "heavily" do you consider heavily? I DO NOT have any experience, with coverage, that is. I have three myself. All three noticible, only one I would consider a noticable problem. Have also had qestions concerning covering them myself. I plan on doing my first competition without the coverage to see if they are a problem, as far as judging. I'm sure this is no help, but I've heard and read that Derma Blend(I think I spelled correctly) has products that work wonders if applied correctly. Anyone out there ever tried/used the stuff?

my tats have kept me from competing. i wish i never got them. have 9 all together. this dermablend, what is it and where can i look at it? website? anyone know how to remove tats or at least lesson the color? if i could lessen the color and then tan heavy, maybe that would help?

dermablend is a really really thick makeup foundation. a lot of dancers that i know who work at this upscale club use it to cover tattoos at work. works good for small stuff, but i couldnt cover my whole back with it.

you will get mixed answers on this. some say tats will hurt you others say that they wont. i believe that if your going to go for state, nationals or pro they would hurt ya but if your doing some basic type shows then they wont.

i may be wrong but i believe that lee priest has one oneach shoulder he seems to be doing pretty good

he got those after he had been in the lime light a while and was popular. not saying you cant be a pro with a tattoo, i just feel if you have a few more than lee priest or ones that are bigger, like covering your forearms, may hurt you. to each his own but if i could go back, i wouldnt have gotten mine. i would love to have clear, tat free skin again.

a tattoo isn't going to make the difference between winning and losing a contest.
do many of the judges prefer to see a tattoo free physique? yes, b/c these contests are about the body, not about bodyart. anything that is drawing attention away from the body itself isn't really conducive.
but like i said, it's very unlikely that the contest will be so close between two competitors that the judges say "damnit, they both deserve to win, but this guy has a tattoo, so I'll give him a 2 and the other guy a 1." not a likely scenario.

I've been looking for an answer to this as well. My thread didn't get any attention though. I plan on getting a full body tattoo, and still would like to compete. I think someone should create a show for the artistically impressioned.
