I have a higher body fat percentage, and lately I have been running a mile everyday, but It takes me around 8 minutes because I am slow.
If I did this every day, would I eventually help me? I want to one day join cross country team, and lose body fat percentage.

Haha, I'm at 13 % body fat and I run 1 mile in 8 minutes too.
I started running a mile every other day for three days, but I got lazy again.________________________________________________________
