Any way to make coffee GOOD? (but still "clean")
I searched on coffee and didn't come back with anything relevant so please don't be annoyed if this is repeat.......
OK I am cutting back on milk and sugar. But I love my morning coffee.
When I make it it tastes like crap..... well, like coffee.
What are some good nutrition-wise ways to make my coffee more like Starbucks fru fru drinks - keeping in mind the no milk and sugar.
PLEASE help!!! And, I do need my coffee. I'm from Seattle and run my own consulting business if that says anything at all.....

I love coffee but I don't cut back on milk. I use 2% milk and artificial sweeteners.
If I was cutting out milk, I'd switch to caffeine pills.

thanks
Thanks but I have those too. :-(
It's just part of my ritual to drink my coffee drink every day before 10am. It's the taste (when its good!) and the act of drinking it, not the caffeine high.

So by clean you're talkin' coffee sans the spiking with a lil of the ol number 7?
Serious though, splenda is a pretty decent alternative to sugar in my book, comb honey is also good too, but Im sure that's out for you depending on how clean you wanna be.
Something I've done is incorporate it into my morning shake..... Kinda a mix of coffee with chocolate or cinnamon roll protein powder. I add oats occasionally too if there's not enough time for a real breakfast in the am.

Just joking...... it seriously is the best, probably only sugar alternative out there. There's Xylentol (Think that's how it's spelled) which is used alot in gum, but I'd have no clue where to even begin looking for that! Guess I could throw some Icebreakers in a centrifuge, but eh..... Splenda will do!

Well, I like my coffee like I like my men... Strong and Dark, lol...
but if you must wuss out on the bean, pick up some stevia. Its a far better replacement for sugar and has no carbs and will not screw up your stomach over time like splenda will.
As for cream, Almond milk is pretty good and creamy... but if you are not lactose intolerant I would just go with dairy cream. You are talking about 1 tbsp, right>? How clean are you trying to eat.

splenda for sure.
coffee mate maybe? the powdered kind? there's also the flavored liquid kind, but there's probably a good amount of sugar in there.
what about soy milk/ rice dream?

If you like iced coffee, you should love this:
75ml skim milk
50ml water
1 tsp splenda
1tsp coffee
3 ice cubes
Throw all this into a blender, and blend for about 90 secs, and it will come out light and creamy and full of air - i usually have to spoon it out its so creamy , and you should drink with a straw

i'm not sure what you could use instead of milk and sugar..
i usually use just put a splash of organic skim milk and a little bit of artificial sugar.
just a little bit of the two can make it taste WAY better, and still not be much calories or sugar.

I use Davinci Sugar Free Vanilla Syrup (zero calories), and a splash of skim milk. I have it every day, sometimes twice a day, and have never had any negative results from it... all of the above suggestions are good ones, as well.

I just take a bottle of water(2 cups cold water), take a few sips to make room and put 2 scoops of chocolate protein powder and a spoon of instant coffee. Shake for about a minute, and get a nice boost and tastes great.

Caffeine is a central nervous system stimulant and that is why you 'need' your coffee. You're addicted to it. Of course, the odd cup of coffee is perfectly fine, but few Americans just have 'the odd' cup. I'd recommend you try to give it up for a while. If you do, you will go through withdrawal symtoms for a few days, but after that, you will be fine.
The reason Starbucks tastes so good is because it is not exactly all that good for you.

I use fat free half and half with a few packets of splenda. Sometimes put it in the freezer for about ten minutes then throw in some ice cubes.

Coffemate makes some powder and liquid creamer that is sugar free if you can find it. I use a couple tablespoons of the powder kind. It isnt as good as starbucks but tastes pretty good, I also use splenda.

Coffeemate has lots of garbage in it. I'll take the milk any day.
Coffeemate liquid creamer ingredients:
Water, partially hydrogenated soybean and/or cottonseed oil, sugar, sodium caseinate (a milk derivative - not a source of lactose), dipotassium phosphate, mono- and diglycerides, artificial flavor, beta carotene color.

Just add your oats, cottage cheese and natural peanut butter to it and enjoy. Maybe have a plain chicken breast cooked on the foreman grill to go with it.
