Question Using Work Boots for Squatting

guys, i've been recommended by a few people to use work boots for squatting because the soles on boots don't compress during the lift like normal sports shoes.

i also have flat feet and was also recommended to use inserts(arch supports) to correct my foot arch.

i have been squatting for 3 weeks just using the arch supports and i can really notice the increased muscle stimulation when i squat.

as for the work boots, i would like to hear your comments on this.

    thank you

not really what my goal is. i want to maximize muscle stimulation during lifting. i've incorporated pre-stretching and proper form already.

i wanted to get input from members here, if it will help, i'll gladly pick some up. if the wont help, i'd like to save the $$cash for some more weight lifting equipment.

How can having foot arch support or wearing any kind of boots "stimulate" your muscles?

    Wear weightlifting shoes.

i over pronated during lifting because my feet when standing roll away from my body. when lowering my body i had problems keeping my knee's aligned. i used inserts to correct this.

when i posted stimulate i guess i should have typed "helped with better form during lifting thus working out my quads better".

sorry, still a newb to all of this.

the heel can help for some people...plus it looks cool.

as far as actual stimulation ill go out on a limb and say that the slight heel elevation shifts the load slightly more onto the frontal thighs, and away from the glutes/hams...which is good for bodybuilding

Bodybuilding is 60% training and 50% diet. Yes that adds up to 110%, because that's what you should be giving it. Change the inside, and the physique will follow.

i agree..waht about flexablilty also...When I first started liftig I used my boots but found that my old beat up gym shoes give me more support so ultamately it depends on you...you might shell outthe cash and find out that it is not for you.....(which would be a waste of time and your hard earned cash)

The biggest issue with "running" shows is that the soles aren't flat. This creates a lot of places where your foot and rock around while you are squatting. I've read it is best recommended to use something with a flat sole. The article recommended chuck taylors or something of that like.

If i can find the article before my lunch break is over i'll post up the link for you.

Does anyone here working out barefooted? For me I think it would be most ideal. I wear the flatest shoes possible and have them barely laced. I naturally hate shoes though.

I've read bad things about wearing healed shoes with Deadlifts, out of position, hurting back, etc... I think it would be a pain to switch shoes based on exercise.

I wear work boots with the extra thick wool socks. It goes great with my XXXL tank top that draps past my thighs so it actually looks like im not wearing any shorts.

[QUOTE=Walnut;110505321]Does anyone here working out barefooted? For me I think it would be most ideal.

since i work out at home, inside, i do workout barefoot. But am interested in this subject as I go outside for Farmers Walks, and have been doing them in running shoes, which don't hold up. So I was think of doing them in work boots, any thoughts?

I wear work boots to lift... all my lifts.

I just feel they are more stable than regular athletic shoes.
