OT: Kids found Santa's stash. <help>
Ok, so friend of mine called, her (just turned) 6 year old son found the stash of Santa's presents in the closet... short of rewrapping everything, anyone have any suggestions or similar circumstances?
Thanks... and Happy Holidays everyone!

This happened to us before, we said we were hiding presents for someone else, rewrapped everything with different paper and different size boxes.

Are all the Santa presents wrapped in the same paper? If not, then I would say that Santas elves use similar paper. If they are all wrapped the same......time to either rewrap or unwrap. We leave Santa's presents unwrapped as they are usually the big ones. This will make a good story in a few years.....lol
Merry Christmas

Well, obviously for this family he does. The kid is 6, let him have the last few years of fun before life's realities come crashing into his world.

Just rewrap and tell the story of Santa dropping off toys early. Then tell the kid that next time, any present found early goes back to the store. That made my kid think twice about snooping, or at least being more careful to leave things as she found them

Exactly. Tell the kid it's a secret magic closet Santa is using as a regional delivery hub.

I about choked on my water reading this!
I would just say that Santa needs help, that he drops off the gifts between Thanksgiving and Christmas and the mommies/daddies put them under the tree for him on Christmas night.
We do not do santa, because I found out the the Easter bunny, Santa and the tooth fairy were all fake on the same day (mean neighbor kids)... so then, I thought Jesus was fake too.
So, my kids have never believed any fairy tales. (They can work it out in therapy later)

I agree!! My wife and I decided not to push the issue either way, but if they asked, to tell them the truth (which they did a week or so ago). For me growing up, Santa was never a big deal - I just liked waking up and opening up presents Christmas morning. For my wife, it was a big deal when she was a kid and she said she was absolutely crushed when she found out the truth.
Each family handles it differently though and we've stressed to our kids not to tell other kids that Sanda doesn't exist.

Exactly, my children know to not tell other kiddos. They understand it would hurt their hearts. We are big on being kind and not hurting other people's feelings here.
I am glad that you taught your children the same value.
