    Box squat and Towel bench...

These two lifts are included in my workout by my football coach. Are they good for you? bad or just not as good as a normal squat and bench? Keep in mind i have bench and squat later on in the week.

I'd never heard of towel bench before but after looking it up it sounds the same as board/floor presses is that right? If so then yes they are worthwhile. They work on your sticking points by strengthening your tri's et al.

Box squats are also supposedly very good for you because you relax the hip muscles at touch down and this strengthens your lift out of the hole. I say supposedly because I haven't been doing squats long enough to require them yet IMO.

if you know what you''re doing, partial ROM benching is good. just throwing into a routine w/ no clue about it is bad

same w/ box squatting - very good technique when done properly. when done improperly, hello spinal damgae.

So if I put in floor presses or board presses for a tricep exercise, would that be okay?

yes, but make certain you have full ROM movtions like cg bp or rg cg bp. partial ROM is very good for triceps, but don't make every movement a partial ROM one...i made that mistake once.

Chains always helped improve my bench if i got stuck because i suppose its 50% mental and i usually forget about the chains weeks later and just add on more weight going higher than i could.

Problem with training in a commercial gym is if I walked onto the floor with chains I'd probably get arrested

Good excuse to get the old bench out at home I suppose.

zfan, your local hardware should have different thickness chain that you can buy.
