Well on the internet somewhere, I don't know where, but people give out techniques of what you can do to get your vertical leap up. But for me, I use to play basketball and interested when I work out, I do a few things to see if I can get mine up to show up my old team mates. I am just starting. So what I am keeping on every day bases before I work out (this is my warm up) I jump on the spot as high as I can for a minute or so. Then I jump as high as I can with bringing my knees to my chest. Then I pretend I am playing volleyball and go for a few spikes. With that, on my leg day, I do calf raises.

And a 8'foot 2" standing long jump. (My best ever.)

What's your best standing long jump?

He's talking about platform leaping, not an out-an-out vertical.
    '
Like the other guy said, olympic-style lifts (especially the drop snatch) really help you with your vertical and sprint speed.

Biggest vertical I think is possessed by Nate Robinson, he's 5'9" went to UW. His vertical leap is probably near 50 inches sometimes.

As for my vertical, i'm more of a 1 footed jumper, so... off 2 feet it's about 28 inches. I'm 6'0" and can dunk off of 1 leg though. So my 1 leg prolly mid 30's or something.
