How important is 8 hour sleep? I'm a college students and when it's midterm or final I sleep around 3-5 hours. LIke today I only slept 2 hours and just woke up. How does it affect muscle growth If I don't have good sleep? I really had a hard work out and I'm worrying that it might not grow.

Anyways, 6 months in my son was pulling the 14 hours but he's ALWAYS been a good sleeper (thank god). It's the pottying like a big boy that he struggles with.... just wait...

I rarely get more than 6 hours of sleep during the week. AT best i'll get 7 on a training day and on a 'rest' day i'll definitely get 8 hours (if I take a rest day during the week)- weekends anywhere between 5-10 depending if I use my cheat meal to have some drinks or not (this usually leads to late nights and less sleep).Height - almost 5'10"
Current weight - 152 - WTF?

I'd post pictures of my boy but i'm a little stand offish about posting them in a public forum - it's just a quirk of mine.Height - almost 5'10"

Back on topic,
It is generally healthiest to get between 7 and 9 hours of sleep each night. Studies have shown (please don't ask me to track down the journal where I read this) that between the ages of 15 and 25 people should be getting about 9.5 hours of sleep per night. That is optimal for growth and overall health.
On an ironic and related note, the US is one of the most sleep deprived countries in the world. My wife has so much crap going on that she needs sleeping pills a couple times a week to even fall asleep.

after coming out of detox i get majorly depressed for no reason at all some time i can't sleep a wink for 2 - 3 days it really affects my physical apperance and at boxing, work and in th weights room. I miss those night were i could jsut put my head against the pillow and sleep .
i was told by my doctor that 9 hours was the new national avergae required for a good nights sleep, for me personally if i get less then 8 i feel like ****.
