    Optimum time to eat Post Workout Meal?

    So on these boards various people have opinions on when the post workout meal should be consumed, the timing after you take the shake after your workout.

    Some say 2 hours, but most say 1.5 hours. So which one is it?

    As soon as possible after your workout, no later than 1 hour. Follow-up your postworkout shake with a full meal within 2-3 hours.

    depends on whats in your shake. If you use whey with simple carbs than I would have another meal within 1-1.5 hours. But if you use whey + oats then I would say 1.5 hrs isnt as necessary and 2 hrs may be better. I use whey + oats and eat my meal about 2 hrs after. Just find what works for you.

    Hmmm, from everything I have always read, the PPWO meal (meal after PWO shake) should be 45-60 minutes after the PWO shake. Especially with whey as the protein source. Waiting for 1.5-2 hours is only neccessary I believe if the entire PWO meal is whole food, ie. not a shake.

    It's an hour after my shake for me...I figured since you just worked out, your body needs nutrients STAT...so it'll take roughly an hour for the shake to be all digested so you need to eat something after that hour is up...Just how I do it..
