So this is a really good interview by Matt Reynolds with Glenn Pendlay and Mark Rippetoe that covers training in a nutshell. Mark is arguably one of the best in the nation at adding muscle to novice lifters. Glenn in addition to being an international level coach and involved with coaching US athletes in various sports at the highest level, has built Wichita Falls Weightlifting from the ground up into what is probably the most successful club in the country.
This interview covers programing for the beginner through the elite athelte. It illustrates how optimal programming for a beginner will have to gradually be altered and tailored. It touches on Westside, Bulgarian style training, periodization, specificity for sports, and even at the end even breaks down how training will change for over time for an starting olympic lifter all the way through elite level.
