body/intestinal cleansing?
topic came up on another forum about cleansing yourself colon and other things like kidneys and stuff. anyone familiar with the process or good products to do so. ive read that our body can build like 10-20lbs of impacted crap in your body plus a intestinal plaque and toxins. can make your gut bloat and everything. was thinking about trying a product called "Colonix", or maybe just going with some type of weekend or 7 day body cleansing but im more interested in the intestinal part of the clean out. any info would be great.

just make sure you get your full daily quota of healthy fats, fibre and water - anything else is a waste of time and money. eat good, that's all.

I know a someone who took colonix for the full time that they recommend and he said it did do a great job on him for cleaning him out....just be warned your going to poop out some nasty looking and smelling stuff while its cleaning you out. But he did say at the end of it he felt much better and planned on doing it again.

I believe a majority of those product's main ingredient is psyllum husk, which is what is in your basic Metamucil or other fiber supplement.
Of course if you take a crap-load of fiber, drink tons of water, and eat nothing but fruits and vegetables you will clean yourself out. However, you will not get all the worms and everything that these products claim will come out. That is the scam part.
So, buy some metamucil, eat healthy, and drink lots of water. There you go, colon cleansed.

I wouldn't call it a scam....the person I know who used it craped out some pretty gross stuff....so it did do the job it was supposed to do.

lots of vegetables help and fruit too. If you include these in your daily diet you should not need to use any supplements. Try to have fruits between meals it will help with digestion.

hydrotherapy
i am a believer in professional hydrotherapy (aka colonics/colonic irrigation). especially when you are shifting your diet to a more rigorous one (i.e. tons of difficult to digest proteins, etc.). it's not so much what you eat as it is the order and combinations in which you eat it. by combining foods correctly, you will digest your food more effectively/efficiently and get more of the nutrients out of it, and create less "waste." nasty stuff can indeed impact itself on the walls of the colon, and while the jury is out on the "toxicity" of that stuff, i can certainly say from experience that you will feel lighter and more energetic when you're done.
i started hydrotherapy because i was suffering from mild to moderate psoriasis (a chronic dry skin condition). i was sick of taking the nearly 6 EXPENSIVE prescriptions my dermatologist was prescribing me (including endless doses of topical steroids and oral antibiotics). no matter what the docs gave me, as soon as i stopped the treatment the psoriasis returned. i was looking for an option--ANY option. i researched hydrotherapy and figured, what the hell. for whatever it's worth, i have not had psoriasis since (years later).
some argue that colon cleansing removes the good bacteria along with the bad from the colon. this is partially true. of course, a day's worth of a two small yogurts or a large fresh (raw) vegetable juice will replenish the healthy flora in the colon in no time.
in moderation, hydrotherapy can be an excellent method to maintaining intestinal health. of course, nutrition and food combination are always the preferred method of achieving homeostasis. personally, i would be wary of any packaged "colon detox" products that promise anything. i agree with the others here--detoxification and intestinal cleansing can be done with diet and food manipulation—but the occasional colonic does wonders to step up the process!
