TNASTY's journey to gettin big
well, yes i am 18 posting a journal in the over 35, but i know there are so many experienced guys here that it would do me some good.
hopefully ill have some readers :]
today is chest, shoulders and arms. i post weight and reps when i come back from the gym.
i had about 8 1/2 hours of sleep. yesterday night i slept well over 10 1/2 hours. haha. tuesday was legs and i was absolutly exhausted, and i never sleep over 9 hours, atleast not that often.
my diet is fairly clean. i control what i eat except dinner(mom always cooks dinner) and i pressure here to fix healthy stuff. haha. i work out four days a week. back, upperbody(chest shoulders and arms), legs, and the fourth day is another upperbody to catch it up. mind you i do have appropriate rest days inbetween i just tend to switch up my days sometimes so i wont put them in stone now.
well ill be heading to the gym in a couple of hours.
currently using:
gnc mens gold multi
ON Whey
CL GreenMAG
and AN's RPM

If you hit edit on one of the first posts in the threads you can delete one of your threads -- I notice you accidentally posted two.
I'm not sure if they'll let you keep a journal here or not given your age, but just in case -- welcome!! I know my son is mature enough (he's 17) that he would fit in much better in this section than others. Good luck to you.

If a mod decides his journal doesn't fit here given it's the Over 35, might I suggest moving it over to Workout Journals.
No slight on the Teen section. I don't know the Teen section well enough to comment on how serious folks are over there.
TNASTY reached out to me through PM's and he appears sincere in his quest which is why I think he'd benefit from the Workout Journals section........if in fact you decide to move him from the Over 35.
Thanks.......keep training T!

Good to see progression on the weight - that's always good. Sort of an interesting split - chest, shoulders and biceps. How many days a week are you hitting the gym? How about laying out your complete split and we can critique it?
The LIVER is just WRONG man! WRONG!!

well lets see
i do the push day with biceps like today twice a week, 3 days apart
push(chest shoulders bi and tri)(you seen what i do for this)
pull(back)(deadlifts, bent over rows or tbar, latpull)
legs(sqauts with bench under me so i have to touch it b4 coming back up, leg press, and ham curls)
then another push day(since my weakness is pushing)
there are rest days inbetween, sometimes i hit the weights 3 days in a row, but thats when i feel like it. i did it this week, took a day off (did cardio), then the next day did another push, (and cardio tommorow). the order this week was pull, push, legs, rest, push, rest
i listen to my body, and take time off when i need it, and when i feel good, ill go work out.

I noticed you mentioned shoulder pain. You might be doing too much volume on your push day. Are you doing any rotator exercises to keep your shoulders healthy? Here are some links:

yea. haha. i think the shoulders thing is caused by one of three things.
1. i played baseball for many years when i was a kid
2. i use to play golf, and for some reason my left shoulder would always give me problems. when i took a full swing back, it would feel like my left shoulder would pop out of socket or something. i dont play anymore cuz of lifting haha.
3. i could have scoliosis or some type of spine problem. the doc said i could have it when i was younger. im going to get it checked out my next physical(new doctor).
when i look in the mirror it always looks as if my left shoulder is always tense. i like hold my left shoulder a different way than my right unconciously. my left trap and shoulder are bigger than my right, and so is my left leg(quad and ham)is bigger than my right. this could be from all the weight on my left side all my life, or just so happens that i havnt evened out my muscles
but the whole shoulder/trap thing does bother me.
i was just gonna do some cardio today, but im gonna throw in some very light weight stabilizer lifts. thats prob the reason my bench doesnt go up very fast, and chest/shoulders arent strong. thanks for the info!!!

just got through working out. 30 min moderate intesity cardio on the bike, and before the cardio i did some light weight shoulder stabilzer work. very pleased with the cardio, felt really good
im sure strenthening my stablizers are going to increase my press and bench.
i read in one of those articles that you have to have a strong back for your chest/shoulders to contract againsts. and i think my back is pretty strong for the amount of time ive been workin out. i believe i have a strong pull to push ratio. strong pull genetics i guess haha.

just gonna say one more thing about my push split. i love super setting bis and tris, and i feel as though i need to do tris on chest/shoulder day since they would get hit directly in indirectly. so thats why i do chest/shoulders/arms on the same day. it prob it too much volume for one day.
if i work bis and tris by themselfs, i really blast my tris, and then my bench and press suffers cuz my tris might still be alittle sore.
just wanted to tell you guys and gals why i do that split haha
if anyone has any suggestions on how to split it up otherwise, let me know

if i work bis and tris by themselfs, i really blast my tris, and then my bench and press suffers cuz my tris might still be alittle sore.
just wanted to tell you guys and gals why i do that split haha
if anyone has any suggestions on how to split it up otherwise, let me know

Superset them on leg day.......just give yourself a rest day after leg day so your bis/tris have had some time to recover for your next push/pull day. This way you're SS them (which you love doing so why stop) and you're minimizing the potential of losing strength on your push/pull work by doing them with chest/shoulders.
BTW......do you want me to re-post your last workout with the template I set up for you or you've got that handled?? Remember......if you copy it from my PM, you have to hit reply and then copy it with all the codes. If you copy it right from the PM itself, it will just show up as plain writing.
Take care......Ed

no it didnt. but i saved that one over it :]
so should i just keep doing arms on chest day?
another question, should my arms be growing alittle after i work them out(such as if i measured them the day after)....should they be just a tad bigger? cuz i noticed they only grow every once and a while.

Do what you feel is best.......you'll need to experiment with a bunch of different things to know what your body responds best to. If you aren't already, I'd take a notebook to the gym, log your workouts but also comment on your workouts. Before you know it, you'll have a ton of your own information right at your fingertips.
In terms of arm or any growth, it takes time, dedication and patience. It will not happen overnight.
Always remember.......it's a marathon, not a sprint!!

Quite frankly.....like I've mentioned to you before.....anything you do at your age will help to grow muscle.
Eat, train and rest!! Simple!!

my arms grow in spurts. and one time it did happen overnight. my left arm has always been smaller and grew half and inch in one night. it was amazed. thats was just to catch it up to the right arm though. left tricep is stronger, right bi is stronger.
i already keep a log when i go. have to keep track of weights and reps or ill forget
